The role of educational psychology in practical application is discussed.
Educational psychology is a science that uses scientific research methods to explain the basic laws in the process of interaction between science and teaching, including students' psychology, learning psychology, teaching psychology and teachers' psychology.

From the perspective of teaching, educational psychology has at least the following two functions:

First of all, provide the theory and research of learning and teaching to help teachers guide and evaluate teaching behavior. Educational psychology can provide theoretical knowledge and research results of learning and teaching system, and guide teachers to make effective teaching decisions.

Taking behaviorism reinforcement theory as an example, what should the teacher do when the lower grade students leave their seats repeatedly?

Conventional wisdom holds that whenever a student stands up, the teacher should remind him to sit in that position, which will help him remember this discipline.

However, a study (Wong, 1987) shows that when a junior student leaves his seat, the more the teacher asks him to sit down, the more the student will leave his seat. However, if teachers ignore students and praise students sitting in their seats instead, the turnover rate will decrease. When the teacher asked the students who left their seats to sit down in turn, the rate of leaving their seats increased again.

It can be seen that junior students seem to be more willing to let teachers pay attention to their behavior, whether it is positive or negative.

This study shows the guiding role of behaviorism reinforcement theory in dealing with classroom problem behavior.

Second, provide research perspectives and methods to help teachers solve practical problems creatively. Teaching should be based on people, time and place. Effective teaching principles and methods also need to be changed according to different students, situations and contents. Teachers should not only learn and apply the knowledge and skills of educational psychology, but also constantly reflect on their own practice and sum up experience. Facing the actual teaching situation, teachers should be able to constantly find problems, ask questions and conduct continuous research according to the theory and research methods of educational psychology, so as to select and create appropriate methods and procedures to solve problems.
