Third, the research direction

1. Investigation, evaluation and sustainable utilization of biodiversity resources in Beijing: biodiversity resources are the basis of sustainable development of regional economy, society and environment. Background investigation, dynamic change and development potential evaluation of animal and plant resources in Beijing area; It will provide policy basis and scientific guarantee for biodiversity conservation and sustainable utilization of resources in the capital to formulate measures to protect biodiversity resources and study the way and scale of resource utilization. This field is our traditional advantage in Beijing.

2. Structure, function and urban ecological construction of Beijing wetland ecosystem: By studying the environmental characteristics, flora and bird ecology, distribution law, quantitative dynamics and response to wetland environmental changes of different types of wetlands in Beijing, we can master the basic structure and function of Beijing wetland ecosystem and the relationship between biological factors and the environment, so as to serve Beijing wetland restoration, eco-city construction and harmonious society construction. This field is an important development direction for us to combine traditional advantages with new research fields and market demand.

3. Application of constructed wetland technology in water purification and landscape design: Constructed wetland is an ecological treatment technology for treating domestic sewage and reclaimed water, and recovering slightly polluted water and landscape water, with low cost and good effect. The landscape design of treatment facilities can be combined with the construction of wildlife habitats and natural parks, which is one of the core technologies of water resources reuse in the theme plan of Beijing Science and Technology Commission, and has wide application value in suburbs. Our research in this field focuses on the removal of nitrogen and phosphorus from water by constructed wetland ecological technology.

4. Biodiversity and Wetland Science Popularization and Environmental Education: Education is the key to environmental protection. As a normal university, we rely on the research results of environmental education research center and research group to popularize biodiversity and wetland ecosystem function and protection knowledge for college students, middle school students, primary and secondary school teachers and the public; Organize outdoor biotechnology activities such as biodiversity and wetland popular science summer camp, winter camp and outdoor bird watching for teenagers and the public, and carry out ecological ethics education. Beijing Wetland School Teaching and Research Base, Yeyahu Wetland Teaching and Research Base and ecological environment management and environmental education have been established.
