Xi jiaotong university history
Xi Jiaotong University, referred to as "Xi Jiaotong University", is located in the ancient capital Xi. It is a comprehensive research-oriented national key university directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and is jointly established by the State Bureau of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the Ministry of Education.

Xi Jiaotong University is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in China. 1896 was founded in Shanghai Nanyang Public College, and 192 1 was renamed as Jiaotong University. 1956, the State Council decided to move Jiaotong University to Xi 'an, which is the Xi 'an part of Jiaotong University. 1959 was named Xi Jiaotong University.

From 1956 to 1959, Jiao Tong University took Xi 'an as its headquarters, and Shanghai Xujiahui old campus only kept a few majors that were inconvenient to move in, and operated as the Shanghai part of Jiao Tong University.

1959 in order to support the construction needs of Xi and Shanghai, the State Council decided to set up the Xi 'an headquarters of Jiaotong University separately from the Shanghai branch.
