China's education is mainly modular, and it is committed to carefully shaping students into finished products that conform to the preset model. This method emphasizes the repeated instillation of fixed answers, which is more suitable for the latter 30% of the population. Relatively speaking, American education is more like an elite education model and tends to serve the top 30% of the population. In my opinion, freedom is the most essential difference between the two kinds of education.
Classroom content
The education system in the United States attaches importance to music, physical education and fine arts, and pays less attention to mathematics, physics and chemistry, which is just the opposite of the situation in China.
Classroom participation
In the United States, students' classroom participation is highly valued. In a class, students often participate in more than half of the time. In contrast, China's classes are more serious and boring. There are relatively few opportunities for students to participate. Most of the time, the teacher is teaching and the students are listening. This kind of cramming education is out of date. We must revitalize the classroom and encourage students to think positively, instead of just following the teacher's footsteps.
