After 1930s, the Japanese government strengthened militarism education in schools. 1937, the book "Basic Principles of Japanese National Entity" printed by Japan Education Reform Commission and the book "The Way of Subjects" published by Japan's Ministry of Education in 194 1, together with the Imperial Education Imperial Letters published in 1890, became the guiding principles of Japan before World War II.
