What does the lack of education and the limitation of thinking caused by exam-oriented education mean to us?
As usual, every Wednesday is my daughter's German board game day. We have been playing this board game for several years, and our daughter likes it very much. Last Wednesday, when the teacher was evaluating the class, I found that the teacher not only took the children to play games, but also taught mathematics in the second grade of primary school. The children learned to add vertically.

Let's not talk about the disadvantages of 6-year-old children learning mathematics knowledge in the second grade of primary school. Vertical addition itself has caused me a lot of thinking. The most basic mathematics learning in China begins with the vertical formula of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Vertical addition is the addition of bits, and the addition of ten bits gets the answer. The multiplication formula is relatively simple, two or three get six, catchy and easy to remember.

If you think deeply, you will find that our education has been imperceptibly teaching children to take shortcuts since childhood; Subconsciously instill in children: the result is more important, and the process is not important.

Why does one place add one place and ten places add ten places to get the answer? Why do two or three get six? Why do you want to score ten? The children don't know. While we in China are waving flags and shouting for the basic education in China, we despise the poor basic math ability of western children. We are actually comparing different things. We are comparing the process with the result. Compared with the results, it seems that China children can get the correct answer through conditioned reflex on the basis of a lot of practice, quickly and well. However, we ignore the process of thinking, ignoring that mathematics is the same as any other subject, and its essence is the training of thinking ability.

There was a joke circulating on the Internet about the difference between China children and Japanese children in the history exam. China's history exam examines the accuracy of remembering the time and place of a large number of historical events. There are explanations about the causes of historical events, but they all have to come up with the standard answers that the teacher once gave. Japan's children's history examination will require an explanation of the causes of historical events and their impact on the country, the world and even individuals. When explaining, it must be your own thinking, not the standard answer. With such a comparison, we should understand that our education pays more attention to the result than the process.

What does this result-oriented education mean to our life?

Our current education system is related to our history. There was a time in history when everything related to art and humanities would be branded as "capitalism". It was safer to study only natural science at that time. Therefore, the subject setting of the school is mainly based on natural science. The development of natural science played a great role in promoting our country at that time. However, with the progress of the times and the development of globalization, the lack of humanistic knowledge is increasingly hindering the further development of our country. Examination-oriented education, which only pays attention to the results but not to the process, has limited the thinking of generations. Manifested in: superstitious authority, like to take shortcuts, lack of independent thinking ability, lack of scientific spirit, lack of learning ability.

Superstition in authority and taking shortcuts are actually related to the lack of independent thinking ability. In life, we will always face countless choices, and how to choose makes us often very upset. Many people then choose to take shortcuts and trust authority. If you carefully study the chaos of early education, children's training and Internet surfing in our country, you can always feel the so-called authority figures hidden behind. One or two experts jumped out and said, "Don't let the children lose at the starting line." A large number of parents can take their children to some early childhood education centers when they are a few months old, hoping to train their children's brains like Einstein. One or two experts say that "holistic education" is needed, and parents will arrange their children's time to be full, from Monday to Sunday, for fear of leaving some breathing space for their children. The deep-seated reason for the vigorous development of these chaos is that we adults lack the ability to think independently.

We should not be surprised when we talk about our lack of scientific spirit. What is scientific research? Scientific research is a process of constantly asking questions, hypotheses, experimental verification, drawing preliminary conclusions, finding mistakes, asking questions, hypotheses, verification and conclusion. In the process of trial and error, we can verify whether our assumptions are correct and cultivate the ability of independent thinking. The education that only pays attention to the results directly obliterates the most important process.

Lack of learning ability means that it is difficult for us to make use of the experience and wisdom of others. With the progress of science and technology, some former job opportunities will disappear completely in the next ten or twenty years. Look at the depressed department store industry now, you should know what I mean. Ten years ago, salespeople in department stores could still earn a good income. Now, with the rise of internet commerce, department stores have closed down, and salespeople have to face the fate of unemployment. This is the case in traditional industries. Even the so-called gold professional doctors and lawyers have to face the impact of science and technology on their careers. The application of big data in the medical industry will inevitably change the fate of some doctors. In the past, both B-ultrasound and X-ray required doctors to make a diagnosis report, but sometimes because of memory defects, doctors may make inaccurate interpretations of uncommon and difficult images. These problems can be easily solved by computers in the era of big data. Even in the field of surgery, robots are gradually replacing people. Especially for complicated major surgery, robots will take on more and more important work. Robots do not have the problem of exhaustion of physical strength, and there is no misjudgment of thinking caused by physical decline. Robots can also reach surgical sites that cannot be reached by human hands more accurately. What does the development of artificial intelligence mean to us? This means that we must improve our learning ability in order to survive in the developing society.

For the impact of artificial intelligence, our country's education system seriously lacks the ability that human beings may not be able to replace. These abilities include empathy, love and the ability to see things systematically.

After all, we are human beings, and we have to face our relationship with our spouses, our jobs, our children and our parents. The lack of these important education in the learning process makes us have to face the conflicts between individuals, families and careers brought about by these educational deficiencies in adulthood, and sometimes even pay a painful price.

"Who am I?" "What does my mood mean?" "What is love?" "What is my real inner need?" "What does life mean to me?" In the process of our education, we seldom have the opportunity to seek the answers to these questions. However, these answers contain the thinking results of questions that are crucial to our lives. We need enough self-awareness ability. Empathy ability, caring ability and emotional management ability are all within the scope of self-cognition ability; At the same time, the ability of self-cognition also determines the depth of our understanding of the meaning of life.

Self-knowledge is a very important concept. Only when you have a clear concept of yourself, know where you should be in society and know where your value as a human being is, will you not be confused. Because you can't know yourself better, you will choose the wrong career and the wrong life partner; We lose our temper because we don't know our real inner needs and have no communication skills, which hurts ourselves and others. We don't think clearly what the real important value of life is, so we will consume life in all kinds of meaningless relationships.

When parents' education inevitably bears the brand of the times, what do parents' lack of education and thinking limitations mean for raising children?

Due to the lack of understanding and self-awareness of human nature, we don't know how to love, respect and understand such a simple little life; The limitation of our thinking makes us habitually raise our children in a way that we think is "right".

In my English enlightenment class, I often come into contact with such parents. Theories and examples have told you more than once that children need the combination of images and corresponding audio to help them understand the meaning of audio, but they can't translate Chinese to children. I still get many text messages from my parents. Parents can't wait to translate their children into Chinese to help them understand the meaning of audio. Everyone doubts children's ability to understand audio through video. Here, you will find that parents want to copy the learning path of learning English for themselves and their children. My parents seem to have forgotten that after studying English for more than ten years, they still can't speak or write. Since it is an inefficient way of learning, why should children copy it?

The same situation often happens when parents and children play games. I often observe the process of building blocks with my husband and children. Whenever a child cheerfully invites his father to accompany her to build a building block, the result becomes a process in which the father enjoys himself and the child hands the building block beside him. After carefully watching the process of their play several times, I found that every time the child built an unstable structure, the father directly said, "You are wrong, you should do this" and then directly helped the child build it. In this process, children have never experienced the surprise of scientific discovery. There are no problems, no assumptions and no conclusions, because dad gave the answer directly.

When I constantly reflect on my educational process and my thinking limitations. I am full of deep admiration for children's learning ability. When my daughter climbs, I am always surprised at how she can learn to keep her body close to the rock wall so quickly, although no one has ever told her that it can save her strength. I was also surprised at how she could write rhyming poems by listening to Dr. Seuss's picture books, even though I never taught her that poetry should rhyme. Therefore, whenever I think of letting my children take part in training courses or extracurricular activities, I always ask myself carefully: Are these decisions helpful to improve their self-study ability? Is it a learning field that makes children passionate?

If parents can often and consciously observe their children, you will always find that their learning ability in the field they love is amazing. All we need to do is take our children to that field.

In essence, at any level.

Only self-education, no other education.

All educators should realize this from the deepest level.

We must offer the most favorable conditions.

Through what we do.

A child can educate himself according to his own destiny.
