Our country has long noticed the relationship between education and society. Kong Qiu, an ancient educator, put forward the theory of "being rich in peace means teaching" and realized the relationship between population growth, economic development and education. Xue Ji in the pre-Qin period put forward that "learning is the only way to turn people into customs" and "governing the country and keeping the people safe, teaching first", expressing the understanding of the relationship between education and social politics at that time.

The scope of sociological research mainly focuses on the following aspects:
① The relationship between social structure and education. Mainly study the relationship between education and economy, politics and culture. The key point is to study the interaction between education and economic and political system and the possibility of education promoting social change.
② The relationship between socialization process and education. Socialization is a process in which children gradually learn social norms. When studying the relationship between this process and education, we mainly study the educational functions of families, collectives and schools and their relationship with society. Some scholars believe that the family is the first main unit of individual socialization. The knowledge, habits, behaviors, attitudes and other personality (personality) characteristics initially acquired and formed through family training will affect their future adaptation to society. The economic status of the family, the number of children and the relationship between members all affect the socialization tendency of children.
③ The relationship between social change and education. In this study, three different views have been formed: a. Education is the driving force of social change. B. think that education is a reflection of social change. Education is an adaptive system, which changes with the changes of society. Social change is the reason. Education adjustment and adaptation is the result. It is believed that education is not only the motive force of social change, but also another potential condition of social change. If we attach importance to vocational and technical education, it can not only improve the economic structure, but also have the potential function of promoting social change.
In addition to the above three aspects, many scholars have also discussed the social structure of schools, the relationship between schools and surrounding communities, the connotation of teachers' social roles, teachers' professional characteristics, status and career development stages.
