There are three forms of adult college entrance examination:

(1) High school starting point to undergraduate course (referred to as "high school starting point"): it is an undergraduate education based on high school education (or equivalent), which is generally set up in ordinary colleges and universities. Educational system: 4 years of science, engineering and medicine, 5.5 years of part-time; Other disciplines are full-time for 4 years and part-time (including amateur and correspondence, the same below) for 5 years.

(2) From high school to junior college (higher vocational education) (referred to as junior college): it is a junior college-level academic education based on high school graduation education (or equivalent). Academic system: science and engineering and medicine are full-time for 3 years and part-time for 4 years; Other disciplines are full-time for 2 years and part-time for 3 years.

(3) From junior college to undergraduate (referred to as junior college): it is an undergraduate education based on a series of junior college degrees in national education. Educational system: full-time full-time study is generally 2 years, and part-time study is 3 years.

The national unified entrance examination for people's colleges and universities (hereinafter referred to as adult college entrance examination) is an entrance examination for all kinds of adult colleges and universities in China to select qualified graduates to enter higher-level academic education. Adult college entrance examination is a series of national education, which is included in the national enrollment plan, recognized by the state and unified nationwide enrollment examination.

Adult higher education can be divided into three types: junior college, senior high school and junior college. There are three forms of study in school: full-time, part-time and correspondence (from the autumn of 2025, the names of "correspondence" and "part-time" will no longer be used in continuing education of higher education).
