People's Education magazine was founded in May 1950. Chairman Mao's inscription "Restoring and developing people's education is one of the important tasks at present". The first editorial board of People's Education, composed of famous educators such as Cheng, Ye Shengtao, Liu Kun, Xu Teli and so on, undertook the pioneering work of educational news propaganda in new China.
People's Education, as a national and comprehensive education periodical headed by the Ministry of Education, always adheres to the correct public opinion orientation and the principle of "three closeness"; Actively publicize the education policy of the Party and the country, publicize the decision-making and major deployment of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on education, publicize the vivid practice of cadres, teachers and students in the education system participating in education reform and development, introduce a number of influential local typical experiences such as the "Miluo experience" of quality education and the "Shouguang model" of balanced development of education, and introduce a number of influential typical figures such as Si Xia, Huo Maozheng and Li Xigui. In the evaluation of 1998 and 1999, both of them were rated as "National 100 Key Social Science Journals" by the General Administration of Press and Publication, and People's Education won five government awards, including the first national periodical award of the General Administration of Press and Publication in 2000, and was rated as "60-year influential periodicals of New China" by the China Journal Association in 2009.
On April 20 10, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the publication of People's Education, Comrade Liu Yandong, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and State Councilor, wrote a congratulatory letter, fully affirming that People's Education is "an excellent publication with high authority, credibility and influence, and has made positive contributions to promoting China's educational reform and development" and encouraging People's Education to "continue to be the vanguard of educational journalism".
