brief introduction

Senior high school is a higher education institution after the end of nine-year compulsory education in China. It accepts qualified junior high school graduates, and the general academic system is three years, that is, senior one, senior two and senior three. China's high school education refers to the high school education after junior high school, including: ordinary high schools, vocational high schools, secondary specialized schools, secondary technical schools and so on. It belongs to the category of high school education. Senior high school education in China is non-compulsory, and students must pay necessary tuition and other fees. Since 2009, the state has implemented the tuition-free policy for senior high schools in some poor areas.

China's ordinary senior high school education system is still constantly improving and reforming. From the initial unification of all parts of the country to the sudden emergence of arts and sciences, some provinces and cities have been given the right to independently carry out high school curriculum reform, and capable publishers have been given the right to publish high-quality high school textbooks, breaking the situation that PEP textbooks once stood out. Later, the emergence of elective courses made high schools show new vitality.

In 2003, the most extensive, deepest and largest high school curriculum reform in China was gradually launched. The new curriculum no longer distinguishes learning content by semester, but by modules, such as mathematics. In the past, learning was arranged in the order of function, algebra, plane geometry, solid geometry, probability and statistics, limit and derivative. In the new mathematics curriculum, compulsory 1 is mainly a function, and compulsory 2 is geometry.

At this point, students can complete the compulsory courses of senior high school mathematics, and the new courses are experimented and promoted in various places in the form of compulsory courses+elective courses, activity courses+subject courses, vocational education courses+academic courses.

Just because of the influence of traditional educational ideas and the blind pursuit of the college entrance examination rate by all walks of life, high school education in many areas still emphasizes knowledge education or the accuracy of knowledge, ignoring the comprehensive education of students, the sound education of personality, the cultivation of thinking ability and innovation ability. Our basic education reform still has a long way to go.

Comprehensive senior high school is a teaching model of comprehensive talents, which is supplemented by providing students with continuing education and employment and cultivating students with solid basic cultural knowledge and certain professional skills standards. Its main feature is to recruit students according to major categories, adopt ordinary high school textbooks for cultural courses, and allow them to be diverted to vocational secondary schools after one or two years, and students' internships are completed in winter and summer vacations. Students can take the general high school level examination or comprehensive high school examination, and those who pass the examination will be issued with the general high school level examination certificate and the corresponding graduation certificate. Graduates can apply for ordinary colleges and universities, and fresh graduates can also be recommended by graduation schools, with two-way choice and independent employment.

High school graduates can take the national unified examination for enrollment in ordinary colleges and universities. By May 30th, 20 16, there were 2,879 institutions of higher learning in China, including 2,595 ordinary institutions of higher learning (including 266 independent colleges). Students can choose their own schools according to their exam results.
