Novosibirsk is the capital of Novosibirsk, Russian Federation, the largest city in Asia, and the third largest city in Russia after Moscow and St. Petersburg. A few years ago, Novosibirsk became the capital of one of the seven federal districts in Russia, and it was called the capital of Siberia. It is the economic, scientific and cultural center of the Russian Far East, with the largest library east of the Urals, the largest station of the Trans-Siberian Railway and the famous Russian ballet theater.
Novosibirsk has developed rapidly in recent ten years and has become an international exchange center with extensive contacts between the Far East and China. Novosibirsk State Technical University was founded in 1950, formerly known as Novosibirsk Institute of Electrical Engineering, and renamed as Novosibirsk State Technical University in 1992, which is a famous university in Russia. The school has more than 200 teachers/kloc-0, including doctors, professors 127, associate professors and doctors 527. There are 245 part-time teachers, including doctors, professors 1 17 and associate professors and doctors 128. There are more than 25,000 students, including about 1000 foreign students, mainly from China, Mongolia, South Korea, Syria, Jordan and other countries.
