Apple education conference
After nearly two years, DEF CON CHINA was restarted in vernal equinox on 202 1, and global geeks were connected again.

On March 20th, Baidu Security teamed up with DEF CON to hold the world's first all-VR geek conference DEF CON China Party, and held a small-scale offline geek party in Beijing.

Jeff Moss, founder of DEF CON China Party, expressed his support for this pioneering activity. In his speech, he said that this is a brand-new attempt, combining the concept of Party with the spirit of DEF CON, and being able to meet geeks in VR and imagine the future together.

As the most important part of DEF CON China party, Jeff Moss and Ma Jie talked with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in the form of VR, and discussed topics such as geek growth, innovation and entrepreneurship, AI and virtual space.

In the communication, Wozniak said that AI is the best answer to solve the cognitive limitations of human beings and also reflects the value system of its creators. We should think about how to use AI in a human way, instead of being dominated by the logic of technology, so that technology can serve mankind. He is also excited about the virtual world displayed by DEF CON China Party. He believes that VR is on a good development track, and a new Internet is likely to appear in virtual space.

Indeed, the construction of VR world broke through the limitation of time and space, and made the sci-fi scenes in movies come into reality. In addition to the previous DEF CON CHINA, DEF CON CHINA Party has also achieved a broader expansion of geek spirit and ushered in more "cross-border geeks".

Among them, there are industry leaders represented by Kai-Fu Lee and Feng Tang, art giants represented by Gina and Greeny, and new generation trend pioneers such as NINEONE and Wang Kai. And many artistic elements of The New God: The Rebirth of Nezha and Guo Man's classic The Big Fish Begonia also appear in the virtual space of DEF CON CHINA Party in their own unique ways.

Behind the collision between technology and art, the core tone of DEF CON China Party is still to promote the exchange and growth of geeks. During the 10-hour activity, security experts from home and abroad brought many keynote speeches to geeks, covering smart device security, satellite communication attacks, anti-counterfeiting detection of base stations and other hot areas. BCTF Baidu Cyber Security Technology Competition Experience Hall focuses on artificial intelligence security. Focusing on the application scenarios and technologies such as autonomous driving and fuzzy testing, we will gather a group of excellent teams to carry out competitive actual combat and experience learning.

As one of the top professional conferences in the global network security field, DEF CON has a history of 28 years and is known as the "Oscar" in the security field. In 20 18, Baidu Security and DEF CON jointly introduced it to China for the first time, and held DEF CON China Conference in Beijing for two consecutive years, its goal was to gather the most extensive geek power, help China geeks grow and connect the most important pole in the global network security community.

Under the tide of intelligent economy, another pioneering feature of DEF CON China party is the brand-new VR interactive form. Based on Baidu's leading AI capability and Baidu VR "Xirang" virtual interactive space, the integration of customized scenes, multi-person dialogue, online community, live broadcast, intelligent voice and gesture interaction not only allows geeks from all over the world to communicate and interact freely in the same virtual space, but also shows the future prospects and great potential of VR in conferences, exhibitions and other aspects, opening up new horizons and creating new possibilities for the expansion of application scenarios of AI+VR.

Because DEF CON China Party chose the holding date, the day is longer than the night. Technological innovation and the growth of geeks will bring opportunities for building a safer network environment. The power of justice will eventually make darkness nowhere to hide, and DEF CON CHINA will never end.

Fu: Excerpt from the dialogue between DEF CON China Party and Wozniak.

On March 20th, at the DEF CON China party hosted by Baidu Security and DEF CON, Defcon founder Jeff Moss and Baidu vice president Ma Jie talked with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in the form of VR. During the 60-minute exchange, the three "top geeks" discussed many topics including geek growth, innovation and entrepreneurship, AI and virtual space, and Wozniak also expressed his views in many fields for the first time.

A few years ago, when the electric balance car first came out, Wozniak stepped into the DEF CON venue on Segway, which was really a geek. In retrospect, Wozniak explained, don't worry, I just walked around and did what you wanted.

? For me, DEF CON sometimes means breaking the rules. If the rules are broken, the bad rules are not suitable for us (the rules are bad, and the bad rules don't mean anything to us).

? DEF CON has a lot of music on the scene, and the music is really inspirational. In the past few years, I have supported a lot of music. When I was a child, music was attached to the lyrics, which was also my emotional sustenance (when I was a child, music was also an emotion attached to the lyrics).

Music accompanied Wozniak and Apple's initial growth-when Apple was founded, I did some great work (I was doing some great work when Apple was founded)-and we were famous for inspiring ideas. This has become a part of our culture (we are famous for inspiring this idea, which has become a part of our culture).

? When I started designing my own computer, I always played some rock music at the same time. They are good music, but they were not accepted by the mainstream at first. They come from the folk and have now become a part of our popular culture. In fact, I listen to everything, including heavy metals. I like the feeling of coming into your soul, but I haven't. Your heart will tell you something.

? The first day I met Jobs, he was only 16 years old, and he didn't have any music records (the first day I met Jobs, he was six years old and never had an album). I showed him the lyrics of the inner pages of Bob Dylan's records, and since then, his songs have become an important part of our lives (I showed him all the pad notes, and the lyrics of Bob Dylan's songs have become a big part of our lives).

? Jobs often comes to my house, and he will turn everything I have created recently into money or his own job. However, when I developed my first personal computer and shared all my schematics with members of the Homebrew Computer Club for free, he didn't know all this. When I showed it to him, his first suggestion was that maybe we should start a company.

? Apple's first pot of gold came from providing audio technology and multimedia support (Apple was originally famous for multimedia support and sound and its connection), but with the launch of Apple II, it contributed almost all the income of Apple in the first ten years (this will be all the income of our first 10 year in Apple). The introduction of Macintosh made us very popular among creative people (our computer was rewarded for being popular with creative people). Some video editing requirements can only be done on Macintosh, and Photoshop can also be done.

In the 1990s, Wozniak and Apple drifted apart. He said, don't be afraid to go out, but explore anything that can help you realize your dream. Instead of just handing over a job (explore anything else that will help you create your own job, rather than saying that other things must do the rest or the last part of it).

? We founded Apple, and we reached an agreement that I wouldn't run it, but I would be its engineer (I reached an agreement with Steve Jobs that I wouldn't run a company, but I would run engineering). This is my job, and I will stick to it all the time.

? I am lucky because I didn't let Apple's success change my own values (I am a little lucky because I didn't let Apple's success change my values). I didn't put wealth and power first. I need to do something more important (I didn't become a different person and want to maximize my wealth and power, just because I did something important and was in a higher position).

? My happiness comes not from Apple's achievements and success (my happiness really doesn't come from Apple's achievements and success), but from everything I do (it comes from everything I can do). This is not to say that Apple has become a different enterprise from what I imagined (Apple has grown into something that is not my own), but I will never sacrifice my values (I will never sacrifice my own values of truth in order to run such a company).

? Whether you have more or less resources will not determine your success (when you have more or less resources, it is not a matter of deciding what you do). In retrospect, I did two things right. First of all, I use every component to save costs (I always try to save parts); Secondly, I have done something for Apple that I have never done before (I have never done these things before, but when I do, it is so important to Apple).

? Therefore, trying new things can stimulate you to think better (things that you haven't done before). The best way to achieve it is not from experience, nor from books (not what I did before, nor how I did it in books), which helps me to do greater things.

Wozniak's growing experience is legendary. Everything may have started with the game PONG that he and Jobs made for Atari, but Wozniak didn't stop there-remember Bob Dylan I mentioned just now? I mean I did his magic (I mean I did some magic).

? Before our design "PONG" appeared, there was never a arcade game. For four days in a row, Jobs and I did it (for four days in a row, we actually finished it, Jobs and I). But I was thinking, wouldn't it be better if they were colored (wouldn't it be great if they were colored in arcade game).

? I also became an analog signal engineer at that time. No one thought that we could connect digital signals with analog signals-you just need to type 1 100 on the analog line (you just put a digital number 1 100 on a wire), and it will be displayed in red. And if you enter 0 1 10, it will be displayed in purple. This is also the source of Apple's "Rainbow Trademark" (it was really the reason for our first 6-color logo).

? If colors can appear in the arcade, why can't I connect them directly to the digital display? In this way, the computer becomes arcade game, and it becomes software. In the basic language, I only need to input some instructions to color it, and I can write a good game in one day without dealing with thousands of wires in the arcade, which is a huge progress for the game.

In Wozniak's view, geek is a truly great art. I'm not competing with anyone in the world, I'm competing with myself, and I've done the smartest little thing (I'm not competing with anyone in the world, I'm competing with myself, and I've entered the smartest little thing).

? We can use technology to achieve things we never thought of (you can make technology do things it never thought of), which really inspired me. If you can do better, the rules don't apply. And its motivation comes from innate curiosity, which is also the way I grew up to a great extent.

? Sometimes motivation is more important than skill (sometimes motivation is more important than skill). But how can we maintain a certain level of continuous innovation? Part of the reason may be that some of us are born this way. But you know, there are many factors that weaken your creativity in life, including the books you have read and the movies you have seen. But don't worry, you may not be able to open that drawer, but you can open that door.

Nowadays, large technology companies are leading more and more innovations. Is entrepreneurship still a good choice? In Wozniak's view, the question is actually not that complicated-can I do something important to the world, or can I do something important to the world or can I do something I just want to do, that's all.

? I haven't been exposed to many computer courses since I was a child, but now, you see, this is our digital world (but what we do, we call it the whole digital world). Later, we invented crowdfunding and created the performance economy. These ideas are all from young people, and they have nothing to do with those who have a successful career and your partners (they are not from those who are ready to start a business and tend to make your business stronger and better).

? Many times, the key to success lies in whether you want to be different or just like others. If you want to write code (so if you plan to enter the coding field), you'd better try your best to make sure that no one in the world can write better than you (you'd better do the best, and no one else in the world can generate better code).

? Siri was just a voice assistant application before it was acquired by Apple. The later story, you know, is a good thing. If you create something good, even if it is independent, it may be acquired by a large technology company. But this is your exit strategy (that's your exit strategy), and there are many things waiting for you to explore tomorrow (I think there are other things in the world, and you can come up with an idea tomorrow).

? It's good to get in touch with AI early. It is the most advanced computer technology and we can do the most incredible things in the world. But we must understand that machine learning is not like the brain (it is good to be exposed to it, but we must understand that it is like machine learning and not like the brain). We can't rely entirely on technology. When you focus on a small slide, you can't see the whole picture (so you can't see the big picture of the whole field).

Become a teacher? Perhaps this is somewhat contradictory to our usual understanding of this "number one geek". In the past eight years, Wozniak has been both an engineer and a teacher, teaching computer courses from grade five to grade nine-that was a very important period in my life (that was a huge part of my life), and didn't disclose any news to the outside world (not out loud). So no one knows what I'm doing (which is why what I did is not always known).

? My love for education stems from my love for science and technology, my love for education, and my recognition of many online courses (which also combines my love for science and technology with my love for teaching and a large number of online courses).

? At school, I teach students how to use computers to finish their homework, instead of becoming a freak. And if the school can get some extra funds, it may bring a lot of help, and we can train many talents you can imagine (we have trained all the smart people you can trust). But this didn't happen, the computer was just regarded as a teaching tool (this really didn't happen, because the computer is just a modern textbook).

? In California, its education budget can be ranked as 15 in the United States, but its investment in computer education only ranks 43rd. In Cupertino, where Apple is located, I sent postcards to everyone here at my own expense, hoping that they would vote for tax increase to strengthen education expenditure. Unfortunately, we only got 64% of the support votes, which is not enough to make 67% of the bill come into effect. Of course, later, we succeeded, both in Cupertino and in my hometown of Los Gatos.

However, Wozniak is still dissatisfied with the current educational model-why I can't learn what I like (why I can't learn what I love) and why I should be like others (why I must be like others).

? We can't go in the same direction in different directions (we can't all go in the same direction in different directions), which is not the practice of our school and we can't afford it (our school is not like this and can't afford it). But if we can all do one-on-one teaching, a great teacher can teach you all the methods from elementary school to college. Let you develop in any direction (a great teacher can teach you from primary school to college and let you develop in any direction), and education may be very different without judging my grades.

? Can we do this on the computer? I often hope that we can. I used to think that this is an important solution for education one day, but now I don't think it will happen. Because many skills cannot be used to solve problems, the ability of critical thinking may be more important in the technical field (that critical thinking skill may be better than that in the technical field).

? Our core values are determined by peers (you know their core values are set by peers). Some methods do teach you to think creatively, but you can't really control a person, whether it's body or soul. And most people don't want to be indoctrinated, they will say, no! This process itself is also learning and growth (this is the way of learning).

There is no doubt that AI is changing our lives. In Wozniak's view, we are bound to be with AI in the future (I have a long relationship with AI), but we should also be aware of its limitations.

? When I wrote the first program, I was thinking about the problem between the brain and the computer (I started thinking about the problem between the brain and the computer in the first program I made a mistake). Why can humans solve many problems with computers? This is not just because computers can't solve it just in speed.

? Due to the limitations of human thinking, AI and machine learning are very meaningful. For example, how to design better wires or components, obviously, machine learning is the answer (obviously), and neural network is a great help.

? Although AI is not as intelligent as the brain, it is still the most helpful to us (it does its intelligence like the brain, but it can still be the most helpful). Without it, we just can't get through, and after we have it, we can't give up.

? We must understand that computers have not lived a human life. Artificial intelligence will continue to learn, but human creativity is irreplaceable (artificial intelligence must grow with time, and creativity is hard to replace).

AI can be Jarvis, the supercomputer in The Avengers, or Skynet in Terminator. Regarding the controversy caused by AI, Wozniak emphasized the importance of "people"-I think about something as a person.

? Artificial intelligence allows devices to think independently and make high-level decisions. They will continue to mature, mature technology will not tell us, let's go back. For many people, this is almost the beginning of technology becoming more important than people and winning the war.

? We live in the human world, and I always feel that we should think in a human way (I live in the human world, and I always feel that we must think in a human way). All our goals are to make science and technology serve mankind and let mankind live a human life. We can't always think the way technology wants. I want to stand on the side of human beings.

? AI is actually a reflection, reflecting the creator's value system. I think the value of AI is to help us achieve human goals (I just thought that AI is that we have a goal to help people, and I can use AI to achieve it). In order to avoid losing balance, we should establish some kind of audit or reputation mechanism (I think there should always be some kind of audit or reputation) to ensure the transparency of software and algorithms, and the regulatory authorities should also play a more important role (I think the government plays a greater role).

Relying on the "Xirang" virtual interactive space, DEF CON China Party became the first DEF CON conference held entirely in VR world. For the virtual space built by VR and AR, Wozniak also expressed his I' m Looking It Motions.

? I am a fan of Google Glass. It is a new thing, a new model (whole) and a new platform. So is VR. When you enter the VR experience, what you experience is far greater than what the text gives you. This is a brand-new feeling (this is a feeling). Compared with before, I think our situation is very good now, and it won't be like before.

? In the special period of epidemic isolation, I am tired of those online concerts (maybe we will hold these concerts online, they seem a bit boring). However, it would be great if I could be there in the form of virtual reality (it would be great if I could be there in the form of virtual reality).

? Although it still faces a series of problems such as copyright protection and visual effects, and new technologies including VR also have its uncertainties, a new Internet is likely to appear in the virtual world (the new Internet also points out where an Internet is? But it may be a virtual world. Of course, even there, I still need an invisibility cloak to ensure safety and privacy.

? I want to know what role you want to play in the future, virtual world or parallel world. This will be a digital world, and your goal may be to be another self, rather than being told how to be a real self.
