Licheng District is located in the middle of the southeast coast of Fujian, with Hanjiang District in the north, Chengxiang District in the west and Xinghua Bay in the east. It is the central city and political, economic and cultural center of Putian. Licheng District is a new urban area approved by the State Council in 2002. It has jurisdiction over four towns of Xitianwei, Huangshi, Xindu and Gaobei and two streets of Zhenhai and Chen Gong. The exposed strata in Licheng District are relatively simple, mainly quaternary Holocene or Pleistocene marine sediments, and some of them are quaternary alluvial-diluvial sediments. Lithology is mainly marine sand, aeolian sand, silt and clay. Jurassic Nanyuan Group volcanic tuff lava sporadically exposed in the northwest of Xitianwei Town and the southwest of Xindu Town. The structural units in Licheng District are located in the eastern part of the volcanic fault-depression zone in eastern Fujian and the fault-uplift zone along the southeast coast of Fujian. Geologically, it is distributed in the northwest of Xitianwei Town and the southwest of Xindu Town, belonging to Late Jurassic-Cretaceous sedimentary-volcanic stratum. The structure is located in the middle section of Pingtan-Dongshan fault zone, with a huge scale, which is mainly composed of a series of compressive and compressive-torsional faults. Under the action of its structural fault zone, rock fracture zone can be seen in the area, but there is no obvious structural fault zone.
