Vocational education is an important part of China's education system. In recent years, the state has paid more attention to the development of higher vocational education and implemented a series of educational and teaching reform measures, which greatly improved the quality of higher vocational education. As a basic course, English plays an important role in the higher vocational education system. With the deepening of higher vocational education reform, new requirements are put forward for higher vocational English teaching. Only by adhering to the principle of career orientation, clarifying the teaching objectives of higher vocational English and improving traditional teaching methods can the effectiveness of higher vocational English teaching activities be improved. Therefore, this paper makes a simple discussion on the related issues of vocational English teaching reform.

First, career-oriented vocational English teaching objectives re-positioning
The accurate orientation of English teaching objectives in higher vocational colleges is the basis to ensure the smooth development of teaching activities and students' good education. The goal of English teaching in higher vocational colleges is to improve students' English learning ability and application ability, and provide better services for students' future career development through English teaching activities. In order to promote the accuracy of English teaching objectives in higher vocational colleges, we should realize that English is not a separate language course, but should be closely linked with students' career development and employment situation, and regard English as an important part of cultivating students' professional ability. Only by adhering to the goal of career-oriented English teaching can we ensure the professionalism of English teaching activities and establish and improve the teaching evaluation system based on it.
Second, improve English teaching materials for higher vocational colleges with occupation as the guidance.
Higher vocational English textbooks should be different from ordinary higher education English textbooks, and should highlight professional characteristics in content. Only by taking occupation as the guide and perfecting the content and topic selection of teaching materials can we meet the needs of students' skill training in higher vocational colleges. The selection of English textbooks should be based on the teaching concept of competency-based. First of all, we should ensure that the selection of teaching materials conforms to the basic English ability of higher vocational students, and on this basis, we should appropriately increase the contents related to students' professional needs, that is, English teaching materials should not only meet the basic teaching needs, but also be linked with students' real life, so as to cultivate students' enthusiasm for learning. Secondly, the content of the textbook should be able to adapt to students' future career development, scientifically study students' career development and demand for English skills, and appropriately increase the most relevant content of English skills in future career development in the textbook. This can not only improve the learning effect of English, but also cultivate students' professional ability and professionalism in the process of learning English.
Thirdly, the innovation of teaching concept and mode based on career orientation.
First of all, teachers should establish a brand-new teaching concept, always regard students as the main part of the classroom, make clear the fundamental idea that English teaching in higher vocational colleges must be oriented to students' professional development, make appropriate adjustments to the teaching content and methods, and combine the study of students' professional knowledge with the study of English skills, so that students can enhance their English learning and application ability while learning professional knowledge, and lay a foundation for the improvement of students' professional quality. Secondly, teachers should innovate and optimize the existing teaching mode, change the previous one-way knowledge infusion method and enhance the interaction with students. At the same time, advanced multimedia technology is adopted. By creating situations, students can have a more intuitive and vivid understanding of English application situations, so that students can feel as if they are in a real language environment and achieve teaching effects that traditional classroom teaching models cannot achieve. For example, teachers can play an English video related to students' careers first, so that students can express their ideas in English or participate in group discussions according to their own understanding. This way can exercise students' English listening and speaking ability, and can also enliven the classroom atmosphere, so that students can actively participate in classroom learning.
Fourthly, the construction of teaching evaluation mechanism based on career orientation.
The cultivation of higher vocational talents is essentially a higher education system based on "professional needs" and "oriented by specific post objectives". The new curriculum reform advocates the "work-study combination" mode of higher vocational education. In order to adapt to this reform goal, we should fully reflect the characteristics of higher vocational education in the assessment mechanism, and scientifically combine English teaching with students' professional skills learning results, so as to obtain accurate evaluation results. Starting from career orientation, on the basis of the original written test and evaluation, the practical mode of combining work with study is introduced, and real career scenes are set up, so that students can play different roles in different situational modes such as business negotiation and job interview to assess their English listening and speaking ability. The assessment results are comprehensively evaluated by teachers' evaluation, students' self-evaluation and students' mutual evaluation. This evaluation method can improve the scientific results of students' English proficiency assessment, and at the same time, it can give students more opportunities to participate in practice, so that students' English proficiency can be exercised and strengthened in professional situations, and lay a good foundation for students' future study and development.
Fifth, pay attention to the strengthening of English teachers' career-oriented ability.
The comprehensive quality of teachers is a key factor related to the smooth progress and effectiveness of teaching reform, so we should attach importance to strengthening the quality construction of English teachers in higher vocational colleges. At present, most English teachers in higher vocational colleges are English majors, and they don't know much about the professional knowledge of higher vocational colleges, especially the practical background of many majors and the future work goals and needs of students, which will inevitably affect the reform effect of English teaching in higher vocational colleges. Therefore, while strengthening the improvement of English teachers' professional ability, we should also pay attention to the cultivation of English teachers' career-oriented ability and strengthen the supplement of English teachers in higher vocational colleges to professional background knowledge and practical experience in the industry. Therefore, English teachers can be arranged to visit and study in enterprises on a regular basis, so as to understand students' professional background and the needs of internship activities, so as to truly and effectively carry out career-oriented teaching activities. As an English teacher, we should also actively use our spare time to study and understand the professional setting and professional ability training needs of higher vocational colleges, so as to promote the improvement of English teaching efficiency. To sum up, career-oriented English teaching reform in higher vocational colleges is an important part of English teaching reform in higher vocational colleges in China, and it is also an inevitable trend of English teaching reform in higher vocational colleges. Therefore, we should always effectively combine the cultivation of students' professional skills with English skills, make clear the orientation of English teaching based on professional orientation, reform English textbooks, teaching contents and assessment methods, and strengthen the cultivation of teachers' professional quality, so as to effectively improve the quality of English teaching in higher vocational colleges. In short, only by adhering to the career-oriented English teaching reform can we effectively improve the quality of English teaching, strengthen students' professional ability and better meet the needs of social and economic development for higher vocational talents.
