National Calligraphy Award: Lanting Award. The China Calligraphy Lanting Award is a national comprehensive calligraphy professional award approved by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee and co-sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Calligraphers Association. It is held every three years.

Like the Plum Blossom Award for China Opera, Golden Rooster Award for China Film and Golden Eagle Award for China TV, it is the highest award in the art category, and the highest award and the highest honor awarded to calligraphers, calligraphers theorists, calligraphers educators and calligraphers who have made great achievements and outstanding contributions in the fields of calligraphy art creation, theoretical research, calligraphy education, editing and publishing. The 4th Lanting Award returned to Shaoxing, the holy place of calligraphy (Lanting under the shadow of Huiji Mountain), and was designated as the permanent host city of the award.
