At the end of 19, Dewey in the United States reflected and criticized the traditional education represented by Herbart, which emphasized teacher-centered, textbook-centered and classroom-centered, and put forward the idea of replacing teacher-centered with children-centered and subject-based teaching with activity courses. Dewey is therefore called "the representative of modern education school".
