China Central Radio and TV University, generally referred to as the National Open University, is a world-class public adult university. It was established on June 20th, 20021,directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), and is a national key university. It is a new type of university directly under the Ministry of Education, which is supported by modern information technology and mainly provides distance and open education for adults.

The National Open University can offer undergraduate majors, which shall be handled in accordance with the relevant provisions of our Ministry. The first batch of undergraduate majors are 19. The National Open University can award bachelor's degrees. The procedure is for the school to apply to the Beijing Academic Degrees Committee, and report it to the the State Council Academic Degrees Committee for the record.

During the period of 1999, the Ministry of Education organized and implemented the project of "Training Mode Reform and Open Education Pilot Project of Central Radio and TV University", aiming at exploring and constructing the talent training mode and the corresponding teaching mode, management mode and operation mechanism under the condition of modern distance education. Forty-four provincial TV universities and Tibet College of Central TV University participated in the pilot project, and the pilot teaching network has covered all provinces and regions in Chinese mainland.

By the autumn of 20 16, there were 36 pilot majors (including undergraduate 15 and junior college 2 1), and the total number of registered students was14.67 million (659,000 undergraduate students and 808,000 junior college students). The total number of pilot graduates is 6.5438+0.6 million.
