Led by Jiangxi Province, it was selected into the "Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program". It is a public full-time undergraduate college jointly established by the army, provinces and municipalities.

Jiujiang College was formed in March 2002 by the merger of Jiujiang College of Finance and Economics, Jiujiang Teachers College, Jiujiang Medical College and Jiujiang Education College. The former Jiujiang Institute of Finance and Economics was formerly the China People's Liberation Army Enterprise Cadre School, which was founded in 198 1. Jiujiang Teachers College was founded in1958; Jiujiang Medical College was founded in Danfu Nursing School 190 1. The former Jiujiang Institute of Education was founded in 1985.

There are five campuses: main campus, Xundong campus, Lufeng campus, Nanhu campus and Balihu campus, with a school building area of 1.3 million square meters and more than 34,000 full-time students.
