Diaoyu Island, also known as Diaoyutai Island, Fishing Island and Fishing Mountain, is the main island of Diaoyu Island and its affiliated islands in the East China Sea of China, and has been the inherent territory of China since ancient times. It is located at 25 44.6' north latitude and123 28.4' east longitude, about 358km away from Wenzhou, Zhejiang, 385km away from Fuzhou, Fujian, 0/90km away from Keelung, Taiwan Province, and the surrounding sea area is about174,000 square kilometers.
Diaoyu Island is about 364 1 m long, about 1.905 m wide, with an area of about 3.9 1 km2, with the highest elevation of about 362 m.. The terrain in the north is relatively flat, and the rocks in the southeast are steep. The rocks in the east are like spires, and the central mountain ranges across the east and west. In the practice of managing the ocean and engaging in marine fishery, the ancient ancestors of China first discovered Diaoyu Island and named it. In the ancient literature of China, Diaoyu Island is also called Diaoyu Island, Diaoyutai and Diaoshan. The earliest historical record of Diaoyu Island in China is Farewell to the Wind, which was written in Yongle period of Ming Dynasty (1403) and called Diaoyu Island (18 19).
Later historical records and official maps also adopted the name of "Fishing Island", such as "Recording Ryukyu" written by Chen Ren Ryukyu officials in the 13th year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (1534); In the forty-first year of Jiajing (1562), Chart Compilation Volume I, China Coastal Defence Area Map; In the thirty-second year of Qianlong in Qing Dynasty (1767), Emperor Qianlong drew the whole map of Kunyu Mountain.
This picture is pronounced in Minnan, and Diaoyu Island is called "Good Fish Beard", which means "Diaoyu Island". 1900, Diaoyu Island was called "Senkaku Islands" by Japanese scholar Heiyanheng. In 1930s, Diaoyu Island was renamed "Fishing Island" by Japan. Taiwan Province Province still uses the name "Diaoyutai". Modern Chinese mainland calls the island "Diaoyu Island" and sometimes uses the name "Diaoyutai".
