Dalian is located at the southernmost tip of Liaodong Peninsula in Liaoning Province, bordering the Yellow Sea in the east and the Bohai Sea in the west. It is the gateway to Beijing and Tianjin, with Yingkou City in the north, Liaoning Province, Jilin Province, Heilongjiang Province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region as the vast hinterland of Dalian, and Shandong Peninsula across the sea in the south, adjacent to Japan, South Korea, North Korea and the Russian Far East.
