What are Locke's educational contents?
Locke's preschool education mainly includes: (1) physical education. Locke pointed out that a person must have health if he wants to be able to work and be happy. He made strict rules on children's clothing, food, shelter and transportation. He is against letting children be spoiled. He pays special attention to children's physical exercise, and requires children to wash their feet with cold water, learn games, go outdoors, get up early and go to bed early, and so on. In a word, they should strengthen physical exercise. (2) Moral education. He pointed out that in a person's various qualities, virtue is the first and the most indispensable. Without virtue, this person will never be happy in his life. He asked parents to attach importance to moral education guided by reason, that is, to make children obey reason and be good at restraining their own desires, so as to cultivate children's psychology of shame, reputation and modesty. Its specific methods are: be careful about rewards and be less punished; Honor and shame; Less restrictions, more practice; Set an example. (3) intellectual education. Locke put intellectual education after moral education. He thinks reading, writing and studying are also necessary, but they are not the main tasks. He pointed out that all achievements in literature, science and education are useless if bad behaviors and bad habits cannot be eliminated from children's behavior and mind. When discussing knowledge education, he thinks that it is suitable for children to learn writing, painting, reading, language, dance and games, and they should be allowed to "ask for learning by themselves and pursue learning as another kind of game or entertainment." He also believes that children's learning content should be constantly changed and updated in order to make them concentrate.
