Responsibilities of the Provincial Department of Education:

1. Carry out the Party's and the State's educational guidelines, policies, laws and regulations, draw up the province's educational development plan, guide, coordinate and supervise its implementation, and draft local educational regulations and implementation opinions on education;

2. Strengthen the overall management of basic education in the province, focus on rural education, promote the balanced development of compulsory education, promote public education resources to further tilt to rural and ethnic areas, promote education equity, guide and evaluate the work of popularizing nine-year compulsory education and eliminating illiteracy among young people;

3. Fully implement quality education, deepen the reform of basic education, effectively reduce the schoolwork burden of primary and secondary school students, strengthen moral education in primary and secondary schools, and guide the development level and quality monitoring of compulsory education;

4. Vigorously develop vocational education, adhere to employment orientation, deepen the reform of vocational education, improve the level and quality of running vocational colleges, actively promote the innovation of vocational education system and mechanism, and further enhance the vitality of vocational education development;

5. Run all kinds of higher education, degree and postgraduate education and continuing education well, deepen the management system and teaching reform of colleges and universities, expand the autonomy of running schools and improve the quality of higher education;

6, responsible for the overall management of education funds in this department, participate in the formulation of education fund raising, education funding, education infrastructure investment and other policies, supervise the raising and use of education funds in the province, manage education assistance and education loans to our province at home and abroad, and be responsible for the statistics, analysis and release of basic education information;

7. Coordinate and guide the education of ethnic minorities, and coordinate educational assistance to ethnic minorities and ethnic minority areas;

8 strengthen the overall planning, comprehensive coordination, guidance and management of private education, implement policies and measures to promote the development of private education, standardize the order of running schools, and promote the healthy development of private education.
