Beijing Institute of Technology Qinhuangdao Branch is one of the six minority preparatory education and training bases designated by the Ministry of Education. At present, it trains one-year ethnic preparatory students for seven national key universities, including Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Harbin Institute of Technology and Harbin Engineering University, with an annual enrollment of more than 500 students. Qinhuangdao Branch of Beijing Institute of Technology, founded in 1984, is located in Beidaihe District, Qinhuangdao, a beautiful coastal city. It is a secondary teaching unit directly under Beijing Institute of Technology and one of the six national preparatory education and training bases determined by the Ministry of Education. The school has complete infrastructure, strong teachers and excellent conditions for running a school.

Over the past 28 years, the branch school has always been adhering to the Yan 'an spirit of Beijing Institute of Technology, training more than 4,500 college graduates for the country and cooperating with foreign countries to train more than 200 international students. In September 2004, Qinhuangdao Branch successfully transformed from junior college education to ethnic preparatory education, and has trained more than 4,000 ethnic preparatory students so far, making contributions to ethnic education.

At present, the school is the director unit of the Management and Teaching Steering Committee of Chinese mainland Minority Preparatory Education, and the deputy director unit of the National Minority Preparatory Education Committee. It has successively won the honorary titles of "Advanced Collective of Three Education Principles of Beijing Institute of Technology", "Advanced Collective of National Unity of Qinhuangdao City" and "Garden School of Beidaihe District of Qinhuangdao City".

In particular, Qinhuangdao Branch of Beijing Institute of Technology, in line with the development trend of ethnic education, took the lead in implementing comprehensive quality education for ethnic minority preparatory students in China, built ten carriers for scientific implementation of comprehensive quality training, and formed its own training characteristics. It also made keynote speeches and introduced experiences at the annual meeting of China Ethnic Minority Education Association for four consecutive years.
