Behind the scenes production
The initial project of the soul dates back to 20161; 2065438+June 2009, Pixar officially announced the film title: Soul, co-produced by Dai Na Murray and Pete Docter. When determining the occupation of the film hero, the creators chose "musician" because they wanted to choose a job that resonated with the audience.
They also considered "scientists" before, but later felt that this profession was not as "pure" as the life of musicians. Choosing the hero's occupation as "musician" and the creator choosing "jazz", Soul becomes a natural part of Pixar animation.
The first cartoon featuring black people is also Pixar's second cartoon featuring colored people (the last one is Travel in a Dream Circle). When Kemp created the hero "Joey", many contents were adapted from his personal life. In order to describe the black culture more accurately, the film hired many black consultants.
