Maqin County, located in the southeast of Qinghai Province and the northeast of Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, is a national-level "Three Rivers Source" ecological protection zone. In 2009, the county's total area was 1.34 million square kilometers, including grassland 1.76362 million mu, and the available grassland area was 1.628.0 1.000 mu, accounting for 92.3% of the grassland area. It is a typical plateau mountain type, with an average elevation of more than 4 100 meters. Now it has jurisdiction over 35 administrative villages and 96 animal husbandry cooperatives in 6 townships and 2 towns.
