What is China's policy on students' calligraphy?
Recently, the Ministry of Education issued the "Guiding Outline on Improving Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Education" (hereinafter referred to as the "Outline") in official website, saying that the curriculum standards will be adjusted accordingly, the teaching materials will be revised, and the proportion of Chinese excellent traditional culture, including calligraphy, in the senior high school entrance examination and college entrance examination will be increased.

This is the second time that Beijing Municipal Education Commission has announced that it will lower NMET's English scores, improve Chinese scores, and clearly improve the importance of mother tongue in school education. The syllabus clearly requires students to learn traditional culture:

● In the lower grades of primary school, know commonly used Chinese characters, feel the beauty of Chinese characters, read simple ancient poems, gain initial emotional experience, feel the beauty of language, understand the customs and traditional etiquette of hometown, learn basic manners of treating people, and initially feel the classic folk art;

● Senior primary school students are proficient in writing block letters, understand the cultural meaning of Chinese characters, appreciate the beautiful structural art of Chinese characters, read the classic contents of ancient poems, and cultivate students' interest in traditional sports activities;

● In junior high school, you should copy famous calligraphy, experience the beauty and artistic conception of calligraphy, get a preliminary understanding of the laws of ancient poetry, read simple classical Chinese, appreciate traditional music, drama, art and other works of art, feel the emotions and thoughts expressed in them, and participate in traditional etiquette and festivals;

In senior high school, we should read long classical works of traditional culture to improve our appreciation of classical literature and traditional art and enhance our national self-confidence.

In the university stage, efforts should be made to improve students' autonomous learning and inquiry ability, cultivate students' awareness of cultural innovation, and enhance students' sense of responsibility and mission to inherit and carry forward Chinese excellent traditional culture.
