Wuyi College, founded in 1958, is located in the green hinterland of the economic zone on the west side of the Taiwan Strait and in Wuyishan, a world cultural and natural heritage site. It is a public full-time undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education on March 19, 2007, and the second batch of demonstration colleges in China to deepen the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education.
The school has 15 teaching colleges (departments) and 45 undergraduate majors. Specific majors are: tea science, food quality and safety, food science and engineering, horticulture, tourism management, hotel management, bioengineering, radio and television director, mechanical design and manufacturing and automation, communication engineering, civil engineering, food science and engineering, etc.

By April, 2023, the school had 1 national specialty, 24 provincial specialty (level 1), 46 provincial excellent courses, 8 provincial teaching teams, 7 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, 3 provincial virtual simulation experimental teaching centers and 6 provincial innovative experimental areas for talent training.
A total of eight industrial colleges were established, among which Shengnong Food College and Wuyi Tea College were approved as provincial modern industrial colleges. There are 12 school-level teaching teams, 6 school-level innovative experimental areas for personnel training, 37 school-level excellent courses and 50 school-level key courses.
