Number of college students in China
In 2022, the number of college students nationwide was 46.55 million.

Among them, there are 4,679,400 undergraduates, 76,300 undergraduates in higher vocational colleges and 5,389,800 undergraduates in higher vocational colleges. There are 242,500 graduate students/kloc-0, including 390 doctoral students/kloc-0 and 654,380 master students/kloc-0. The college has enrolled 4 million adults and 9,336,500 students. The number of full-time teachers in higher education in China is 1.9778 million.

Every year, the number of college graduates has accounted for more than 70% of the new labor force, while the number of non-college students only accounts for less than 30% of the new labor force.

We often hear that the scale of higher education in China ranks first in the world. It's true. At present, the total number of students in all kinds of higher education in China is about 47 million, and it is still increasing at a faster rate. Perhaps in the near future, the total number of college students will exceed the total population of South Korea.

The expansion of enrollment has changed our higher education ecology and brought the following consequences.

First of all, social involution is more serious.

In the past, college students were favored by heaven. When they leave the university campus, they are not worried about finding a job at all. There are many good jobs waiting for them to choose. Now college students are everywhere, and many of them are "adventure islands".

Second, the level of talent training in colleges and universities has declined instead of rising.

Generally speaking, with the progress of the times and the development of society, the level of software and hardware in colleges and universities is definitely getting better and better, and the level of talent training in colleges and universities should also be improved. However, we often see "teachers who don't listen carefully", "students who skip classes" and "empty classrooms". Many college students have been fooling around for three or four years. After graduation, they not only learned nothing, but also were ruined.

Third, there is a structural imbalance between "job hunting" and "recruitment"

10 of the workforce, 7 people are college students. College students become the "main force" in the job market. On the surface, this is a good thing, but the job market cannot provide enough high-end jobs for these college students, and there is a structural imbalance between "job hunting" and "recruitment".
