East China Normal University 1987 set up a special education major; 1997 in order to meet the needs of structural adjustment and special education development of Shanghai Normal University, East China Normal University established the first special education department in China in the College of Preschool Education and Special Education. 200 1, East China Normal University was awarded the first doctoral degree in special education in China. For more than 20 years, the discipline of special education in East China Normal University has been aiming at the forefront of international disciplines, actively connecting with the national development strategy, highlighting the practice of special education in Shanghai, making overall planning and coordinated development, and has made outstanding achievements in discipline construction, personnel training, scientific research and social services, and is in a leading position among similar disciplines in China.
There are 20 teaching and research staff in the Department of Special Education, including 4 professors, 4 associate professors 10 and 6 lecturers. The department of special education has doctoral and master's programs in special education, and can award bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in education. The Department of Special Education has a special education research institute, a psychometric research center and special laboratories for measurement and evaluation of special children, cognition of special children and rehabilitation training of special children. This subject aims to cultivate special education professionals with innovative spirit and practical ability.
The department of special education now has two majors: special education and psychology (special education direction). Since the establishment of the Department, it has trained 547 full-time undergraduates, 40 doctoral students and 547 master students 163. It has sent a large number of outstanding graduates to various schools and related institutions, and has become the backbone of domestic special education teacher training and scientific research. Since 2004, the department has enrolled 23 visually impaired college students in the form of integrated education, which has provided valuable practical samples for the implementation of higher integrated education in China.
The Department of Special Education has a first-class research team in China. In recent years, a large number of academic papers have been published in CSSCI, and many monographs, translations and teaching materials have been published, including the teaching materials planned by the Ministry of Education. In recent years, the Department of Special Education has undertaken a number of national, provincial and ministerial and international cooperative research projects, as well as projects entrusted by the national and Shanghai education administrative departments, the Disabled Persons' Federation, civil affairs departments and other departments to provide decision-making consultation for the formulation of national and local special education policies and plans. At present, the whole department has formed an academic team with a good development trend by integrating and condensing academic research forces, and is committed to the research on basic theories and policies of special education, cognitive development of special children, measurement and evaluation of special children, special education teachers, rehabilitation and early intervention of special children.
With the aim of actively serving the country and Shanghai for the development of special education and the cause of the disabled, the Department of Special Education has provided on-the-job training for more than10,000 special education administrators, teachers and disabled workers in the form of continuing education for more than ten years, making positive contributions to the development of national and local special education and the cause of the disabled. The construction goal of the Department of Special Education is to make special children fully enjoy the equal right to education, make an important and unique contribution to the new development of special education in Shanghai, and build a high-level research university in East China Normal University.
