Three religions and nine streams are a subset of classics and history, and the subset of classics and history is three religions and nine streams. The distinction between identity and occupation has always been high and low, so ancient novels have turned it into a derogatory term. As early as before the Han Dynasty, the names of three religions and nine streams were not derogatory.
The three religions come first, and the three religions are naturally fundamental. The three religions are Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. These are three educational methods or ideas. When modern people hear Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, they think it is religion and associate it with faith. Actually speaking, faith without education is superstition. Because Buddhism was introduced into China only when Emperor Hanming was in power, there was no Buddhism in the early "three religions". Legend has it that Hong Jun's ancestors passed on three friends together, Laozi and Yuanshi Tianzun founded "Buddhism", and the founder of Tian Tong started his own business to "stop teaching". Together with the three Ren Huang, they are called "humanism", so they are called "three religions".
Nine streams are behind, and nine streams also become people who serve or belong to the three religions. Refers to Confucianism, Taoism, Yin and Yang, Legalists, famous artists, Mohists, strategists, miscellaneous scholars and farmers. In addition, there are novelists, so there are "nine schools and ten schools" (from Hanshu Yiwenzhi).
Today, the derogatory term "three religions and nine streams" is divided by status and professional name.
There is no special distinction between the three religions, but nine streams are different. There are two kinds of statements about 96:
