Extended data:
May 12 every year is the International Nurses' Day, which is established to commemorate florence nightingale, the founder of nursing profession, the pioneer of British nursing and the founder of modern nursing education.
Florence nightingale was born in a wealthy family in Florence on May 1820, and moved to England with his parents. 1850, she went to Germany to study nursing despite her family's opposition.
1854 to 1856, the British, French and Turkish allied forces fought against tsarist Russia in Crimea. Due to poor medical conditions, the death rate of the wounded and sick in Britain is as high as 50%. Nightingale led the nurses to the battlefield hospital, improved the nursing quality by improving the hospital management system, and reduced the death rate of the wounded to 2.2% in just a few months. The local soldiers affectionately called her "the goddess of lanterns".
1860, nightingale established the world's first formal nursing school in St. John's Hospital, England. Her main works such as Hospital Notes and Nursing Notes have become the basic teaching materials for hospital management and nurse education.
Because of her efforts, nursing has become a science. Her school-running ideas spread from Britain to Europe, America and Asian countries, so Nightingale was regarded as the originator of modern nursing. 190 1 year, florence nightingale became blind due to overwork.
1907, in recognition of florence nightingale's outstanding contribution to medical work, the king of England awarded her the Medal of Meritorious Service, and she became the first woman in Britain to receive this honor. The nightingale died in 19 10.
