ChinesePhysicsOlympiad (Chinese Physics Olympiad in English, abbreviated as CPhO) is a mass extracurricular subject competition organized by the Chinese Physics Society under the leadership of China Association for Science and Technology, and voluntarily participated by all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government.

The preliminaries are organized by the National Competition Committee and take the form of written examination. All middle school students can sign up for the preliminaries. Students with excellent results in preliminaries are recommended by prefectures, cities and counties, such as participating in the semi-finals. The rematch includes two parts: theory and experiment.
The theoretical part is unified by the National Competition Committee, with a full score of 320; The experimental part is put forward by the competition committees of all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government, with a full score of 80. According to the theory of the rematch and the total score of the experiment, the competition committees of all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government recommend students with excellent results to participate in the finals.
The final is proposed and awarded by the National Competition Committee. There are about 50 first prizes, 50 second prizes 150 and 200 third prizes in each final. In addition, there are individual special awards such as the best total score award, the best theoretical score award, the best experimental score award and the best female classmate score award.
