Hedong District is divided into four school districts, one with six public primary schools corresponding to three junior high schools, two with five public primary schools corresponding to three junior high schools, three with four public primary schools corresponding to four junior high schools, and four with eight public primary schools corresponding to five junior high schools.

Two private junior high schools, Yucai Middle School and Huaying Middle School, recruit students for the whole region. The primary schools with good reputation in Hedong District are Hedong Experimental Primary School and Hedong Second Experimental School.
