China Academy of Fine Arts, referred to as Gome, is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It was jointly built by the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), the Ministry of Culture of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province. It is a national "double first-class" construction university and the first batch of key construction universities in Zhejiang Province.
It has been selected as one of the national graduate programs to build high-level universities, national key discipline programs, scholarship receiving institutions of China government for overseas students, the first batch of demonstration universities to deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in China, the first batch of national animation teaching and research bases, and the first batch of demonstration bases to study in China by the Ministry of Education. It is a social and artistic level grading institution.
China Academy of Fine Arts was founded in 1928, which is called the National Academy of Fine Arts. 1929, renamed as National Hangzhou Art Institute; 1938, changed to National Art Institute. 1950, becoming East China Branch of Central Academy of Fine Arts; 1958, renamed Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts; 1993, renamed China Academy of Fine Arts.
Before 2000, it was managed by the Ministry of Culture. In 2000, it became a university jointly established by the province and the Ministry. In 20 16, it was approved to build colleges and universities for Zhejiang provincial people's government, Ministry of education and Ministry of culture.

Spanning Hangzhou and Shanghai, it has three campuses: Nanshan in Hangzhou, Xiangshan in Hangzhou and Zhangjiang in Shanghai. There are more than 9,000 students and about 0/000 faculty members/kloc.
There are 19 secondary colleges (departments) and 26 undergraduate majors. At present, there are 3 post-doctoral research mobile stations, 4 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 5 first-class discipline master degree authorization points and 3 master degree authorization points.
