Nantong (referred to as "Tong" for short), also known as Jinghai, is a national historical and cultural city, known as "the first city in modern China". Nantong is a prefecture-level city in Jiangsu Province, located at 3141′ ~ 3242 ′ north latitude and 0/201154 ′ east longitude.

Nantong has three districts 1 county, including national high-tech zone 1, four national development zones, comprehensive bonded zone 1, and five national first-class ports for water transport and aviation. The land area of the city is 800 1 km2, and the sea area is 870 1 km2.

Nantong has a history of more than 5000 years. Nantong has a history of 1000 years since the third year of Xiande in the following week (956). At the beginning of the fifth year of Xiande (958), a still water division was established in the later Zhou Dynasty, and it was soon promoted to Tongzhou (now Nantong City). Jinghai and Haimen counties were placed under the jurisdiction of Tongzhou, and the state was governed by Jinghai.

Tongzhou belonged to Huainan East Road in Song Dynasty. In the first year of Tiansheng (1023), Tongzhou was renamed Chongzhou, also known as Chongchuan. After the Revolution of 1911, Tongzhou was changed to Nantong County. 1983, Nantong was abolished and Nantong was established.

According to the geographical changes and historical origins, Nantong today is roughly divided into two parts: north and south. Today, Hai 'an and Rugao in the north of Nantong belonged to wuyue, Chu and other countries during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. In the seventh year of Yixi in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (4 1 1), Ninghai and Rugao counties were located and belonged to Hailing County, which was the beginning of establishing counties in the northern region. Today, the predecessor of southern Nantong is Tonghai area.
