Wenzhou University is located in Wenzhou, Zhejiang. It is a key construction university in Zhejiang Province, selected as the pilot university of the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of new engineering research and practice projects of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of national innovation and entrepreneurship typical experience universities, and the first batch of national deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform demonstration universities.

Wenzhou University can be traced back to Wenzhou Normal School in Zhejiang Province, founded in 1933. In 2006, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Wenzhou Normal University and the former Wenzhou University formally merged to form a new Wenzhou University.
Wenzhou Business School is a full-time undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education and the only business undergraduate college in southern Zhejiang. It was formed by the merger of the former School of Economics and the School of Information Science and Engineering of Wenzhou University, formerly known as the City College of Wenzhou University.

The school is located in Chashan Higher Education Park, Wenzhou, with 9 colleges, 23 undergraduate majors and 6 specialist majors. 20 12 12 School was newly added as the pilot unit of the "Trinity" comprehensive evaluation enrollment system in Zhejiang Province, becoming the first independent college in China to carry out the "Trinity" comprehensive evaluation enrollment system pilot.
