What should be done to improve the fairness of education at this stage?
When we talk about educational equity, we must be clear about what educational equity includes. I think education fairness mainly includes three aspects: opportunity fairness, process fairness and result fairness.

1. Fair Opportunity Fair Opportunity means fair opportunity to study, and everyone has a fair opportunity to get an equal education. For example, at this stage, children who have reached the age of six will be sent to school for compulsory education, regardless of their identity, gender and family economic conditions.

For another example, the state implements student loans. As long as you work hard enough to get into college, you can get grants, student loans and so on. Many schools will also grant registration transportation subsidies to prevent a college student from losing the opportunity to go to school because of poverty. This is to ensure fair educational opportunities.

Is there still unfair educational opportunity at this stage? I think there is.

What is more prominent is the inequality of educational opportunities between urban and rural areas and between regions. For example, when students in big cities can have a good chance to receive English and computer education, some students in remote mountainous areas may not even have seen a computer, and the starting line of the two is completely different.

Therefore, narrowing the gap between urban and rural schools and regional schools can help more students get equal opportunities.

Second, process fairness I think the process fairness of education is the process fairness of students' education. For example, everyone has the same class, but your teacher is a famous teacher who graduated from Beijing Normal University, and my teacher is a physical education teacher, who is often absent from class. Although we all have the opportunity to take the same course, this educational process is actually unfair. When we take the final exam, the results will naturally come out.

At present, educational fairness should be relatively lacking in process fairness. Similar to opportunity, it exists widely in urban and rural and regional education, between schools and within the same school.

The most important factor that causes unfairness in the process is the shortage of existing resources. It is difficult to realize the average distribution of limited resources, so it has to be used for key distribution, which naturally makes the difference between key schools and ordinary schools, key classes and ordinary classes, and the resources obtained are different. Can the process be fair?

Third, the result is fair. At this stage, I think the result is fair. In order to make up for the unfair educational opportunities and processes between urban and rural areas and between regions, some bonus points and special enrollment projects have been designed in the college entrance examination, such as the special plan for rural poverty-stricken areas in the college entrance examination, to ensure that outstanding students in these places will not fall far behind those with high-quality educational resources because of the lack of educational resources.

However, the fairness of the results is not enough, so we are now striving for fairness in opportunities and processes, such as selecting outstanding college students to teach in rural areas, allowing students in remote areas to enjoy the teaching resources of prestigious schools through online teaching, and so on.
