Ganzhou Teachers' College was approved by the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government and reported to the Ministry of Education for the record. On 20 13, it was transformed into a full-time general college.

The predecessor of the school can be traced back to Qiannan Normal School, which was founded in 1903. It has successively integrated and absorbed educational resources such as Ganzhou Normal School, Gannan Education College (Gannan Normal College), Gannan Literature and Art School, Ningdu Normal School (Jiangxi Education College Gannan Branch), Longnan Normal School, Ruijin Normal School and Xingguo Normal School. It focuses on normal education, covering literature, science, sports, art and other professional disciplines.

The school is located in Ganzhou City, the first city of Ganjiang River, in the University Park of Rongjiang New District. The school is surrounded by mountains and rivers, scattered and elegant. The whole building adopts post-modern European style and incorporates elements of Hakka wai Fang in southern Jiangxi. The campus is planned and designed according to the standard of undergraduate colleges with a scale of 10,000 students, with a total area of 1.034 mu and an existing construction area of 226,000 square meters. The school has 1 putonghua testing station, 6 national putonghua testers and 10 provincial putonghua testers.
