Zhang Yu Teachers College is located in Hongjiaozhou University Park, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. It is a public full-time undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education, a university jointly established by Jiangxi Province and Nanchang Municipal People's Government, and the only municipal undergraduate college identified by Nanchang Municipal People's Government.

The school has seven disciplines, including pedagogy, management, art, engineering, literature, law and science, and 58 majors, including 25 undergraduate majors.

The school has advanced hardware facilities, including modern teaching facilities such as voice classroom, microteaching room, children's music composition room, rhythm room for hearing-impaired college students and speech rehabilitation training room. In particular, the experimental training equipment for preschool education and special education majors is leading in China and has been highly praised by the evaluation expert group of the Ministry of Education.

The school is the only pilot training unit for normal students majoring in special education in Jiangxi Province, a provincial training base for special education teachers and a guidance center for integrated education in Jiangxi Province.
