Provisions on Issues Related to Overseas Chinese Children Receiving Compulsory Education in China
Legal analysis: Overseas Chinese children who want to return to China for compulsory education are exempted from tuition and miscellaneous fees according to law, just like mainland residents' children.

Legal basis: Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on the Protection of the Rights and Interests of Returned Overseas Chinese and Their Families.

Article 5 The State shall give resettlement to overseas Chinese who have returned to China to settle down.

Article 6 The National People's Congress and local people's congresses in areas with a large number of returned overseas Chinese shall have an appropriate number of returned overseas Chinese representatives.

Seventh returned overseas Chinese and their relatives have the right to apply for the establishment of social organizations in accordance with the law, and to carry out legal social activities suitable for the needs of returned overseas Chinese and their relatives. The property of social organizations established by returned overseas Chinese and their relatives according to law is protected by law, and no organization or individual may infringe upon it.

Article 8 All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and local Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese represent the interests of returned overseas Chinese and their relatives, and safeguard their legitimate rights and interests according to law.

Article 9 The State shall give support to farms, forest farms and other enterprises that resettle returned overseas Chinese. No organization or individual may encroach on the land legally used by it or infringe upon its legitimate rights and interests. In places where enterprises such as farms and forest farms that resettle returned overseas Chinese are concentrated, schools and medical and health institutions can be set up reasonably according to needs, and the state will help in personnel, equipment and funds.
