Shi Tao, a native of Huashan (now Changsha, Hunan), was a modern educator. He devoted his life to education. He founded Lijiang Senior Primary School, Changsha Normal School and Changsha Women's Normal School, and taught in Nan Zhou Women's School, Hunan No.1 Normal School and Hunan Higher Normal School.
