Vocational education is to train the educated to have the necessary knowledge and skills to engage in a certain occupation, so vocational education is also called vocational and technical education or industrial education.

Development of higher vocational education

In April 2002, the Ministry of Education decided to start the "four projects", which collectively referred to ordinary middle schools, technical schools, higher vocational colleges and junior colleges as "higher vocational colleges". This move has adapted to the new stage of the highly developed vocational education after China's entry into WTO-the new stage of the development of higher vocational education.
