Laixi City is located in the middle of Jiaodong Peninsula and belongs to Qingdao. It is one of the top 100 counties and cities in the coastal areas of China that are open to the outside world. According to the results released by the National Bureau of Statistics in June 2006, Laixi City rose from 100 in the previous year to 64th. Located between Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai, it is located in the center of the peninsula urban agglomeration and peninsula manufacturing base under construction in Shandong Province, 90 kilometers away from Qingdao Port and 60 kilometers away from Qingdao International Airport. Known as the "Qingdao Back Garden" in Qingdao's "One-hour Economic Circle", it is the first choice city for living and starting a business in Shandong.

Laixi City is located at east longitude12012'-120o40', north latitude 36 34-37 09', and it is adjacent to Laiyang City in the east, Zhaoyuan City in the north, across the small valley river from pingdu city in the west, and jimo city in the south, with a length of 63km from north to south. The whole city has jurisdiction over 1 1 town, 5 sub-district offices and 1 economic development zone, with a total population of 728,000.

Laixi City has four sub-district offices, namely Shuiji, Wangcheng, Guhe and Longshui (Economic Development Zone), namely, Sun Shou, Li Quanzhuang, Jison, Xiagezhuang, Hetoudian, Malianzhuang, Rizhuang, Nanshu, Dianbu, Yuan Shang and Armed Forces Department 1 town.
