Preface by Liu Run, author of Five Minutes Business School and founder of Runmi Consulting.
This is a book based on "thinking method". The original open mind map is attached to the book.
The first half focuses on essential thinking, which can help you see through the essence of problems and solve complex problems efficiently, so that you can become a person who can see through the essence of things in half a second, rather than a person who can't see the essence of things all his life.
In the second half, we jump out of the framework of thinking, think at a higher and broader level, and solve many seemingly unsolvable life problems by means of transfer thinking, dimension upgrading thinking and reverse thinking.
Once we have persistent direct thinking, our growth will have no boundaries, and the important cornerstone of all this is thinking ability, which is also the focus of Effie's book. Effie's book shows me the way of thinking and the territory of thinking. I think it is a book that must be recommended to more people, so I am glad to preface it, hoping to help more people in need.
—— Liu Run, author of Five Minutes Business School and founder of Runmi Consulting.
We think that as long as we keep working hard and busy, we will eventually achieve something, but we ignore that success comes from our insight and grasp of the essence of things. There are traces of change in life, and there are also actions that people should take to deal with it. Only by breaking the illusion and hitting the essence directly can we get twice the result with half the effort. Effie's Straight to the Essence reveals to us the method and process of understanding things and grasping their essence with clear and sharp thinking and vivid language, which is very worth reading.
—— Li Lei, Vice President of Starbucks China.
It's time to improve our thinking ability, Effie, and take you on a journey of thinking. Just like some people say that chess masters "look at the chessboard differently from us", let's work together and believe that "no one's efforts are wrong"!
-Guo Hong Shan, President of Takeda Pharmaceutical Greater China.
In the nine years since the establishment of the station education, I deeply feel that for entrepreneurs, the core ability is to find the underlying logic of people and things. Go straight to the essence, dissect the essence behind the phenomenon from the bottom operating system, and analyze the seemingly abstruse theory through vivid cases. It is suggested that every entrepreneur and professional concentrate on reading, which will certainly benefit a lot and realize a leap in personal cognition!
—— Haoping Wang, founder and CEO of Xiaozhan Education
I'd like to recommend the book Direct Essence, because it will upgrade your life algorithm. I suggest you reread it every 1-2 years. I believe that your algorithm will be iteratively upgraded every time you read it! This book will become one of the two required books for the training of new employees in our company, and the other is Seven Habits of Highly Effective People.
—— Qiu Hao, founder and CEO of Shanghai Laidian Information Technology Co., Ltd.
This is a book worth reading, whether it is work or life. The first half of the book is a reflection on what "essential thinking" is, why and how to do it. In the second half, I jumped out of the frame and looked out of the frame, which made me see many unconventional ways of thinking and real cases, which was very enlightening!
—— Huang Xiaoling, founder and CEO of Shanghai Bieyanghong Information Technology Co., Ltd.
Excerpts from the article's views
Only through thinking and thinking can we achieve exponential growth. In the first half of this book, I will talk about three key issues of essential thinking.
What (what is the essence), why (why is this the essence), and how (how to be a person who sees through the essence of things for half a second). After reading the first half, you will be familiar with the method of essential thinking, and you can apply it to your actual work and life.
In the second half of this book, I will introduce transfer thinking, dimension upgrading thinking and reverse thinking.
Want to emigrate, Charlie? Munger once said an intriguing sentence: "A person can solve 90% of problems as long as he has 80 to 9 modes of thinking, and only a few of them are very important. However, life is so complicated and things are changing. How do 80 to 90 models solve 90% of the problems? It is the meaning behind Charles Munger's words: To solve 90% of the problems, you not only need to master 80 to 90 kinds of thinking modes, but also learn to migrate, which is migrating thinking. Next, I'm going to talk about thinking about the promotion dimension. After studying and applying essential thinking, there are still some problems in our life that have not been solved.
For example, if a person's self-awareness is too strong, he may have a strong jealousy, which will bring all kinds of pain and suffering. What should I do? At this time, it is necessary to improve the height of thinking and learn higher-dimensional thinking methods.
In the fourth chapter, I provide six ways of thinking to improve the dimension, namely, hierarchical thinking, timeline thinking, perspective thinking, third choice thinking, borderless thinking and shaper thinking. For every way of thinking, I will use theories, real cases and my own personal experience to help you solve all kinds of problems in your life, so that you will no longer be trapped in the cracks of life, no longer be in a dilemma, let you see your values and horizons clearly, update your world outlook and outlook on life, and gain the top wisdom and thinking power of life in a short time, so that your life will be greatly changed from now on.
In the fifth chapter, I will introduce reverse thinking. Although everyone knows about reverse thinking, few people actually use this way of thinking. So here, I have carefully prepared five positive and negative thinking modes that can be used immediately. They are success-failure model, change-invariance model, addition-subtraction model, happiness-pain model and combination-inversion model. These very useful thinking modes will help you break through the imprisonment of positive thinking, expand the breadth of thinking and discover another strange and familiar world.
Quote from page two
Essence: the fundamental attribute of things, the root of problems, and the underlying logic behind phenomena.
How to determine whether you understand the fundamental attributes of things?
1 can be clearly defined.
Can make accurate and simple analogy.
You can make a subtle analogy.
Emotional intelligence refers to a person's ability to manage his own emotions and those of others.
It is "please" to decide whether a person can integrate into many people's talents; In contrast, another talent is "communication". People with attractive talents like to establish relationships with many people, but these relationships are superficial; Although people with communication talent only like to communicate with a few people, these exchanges are often very in-depth.
Definition = Genus+Species Difference
Genus refers to the similarity between this thing and other similar things, and species difference refers to the difference between this thing and other things.
If I ask, "What is anger?" What would you say? Liang Ning, a product operation expert, replied that he was angry because he felt that his boundaries had been violated. Animals have their own boundaries. We've probably all seen dogs and cats use urine to demarcate territory. If another cat comes to the designated area, the cat in front will feel that its boundary has been violated and get angry. What about the boundaries between people? It is the boundary of one's own sense of existence. For example, in the workplace, when one person robs another person's job, it violates the boundaries of others. For example, two women don't wipe when driving, they are not necessarily angry; But if a woman's husband sits on another woman's lap, she will be angry because the border has been violated. What is fear? In a cat's field, another cat comes and violates the boundary of the previous cat. It will be angry. But if it is not another cat, but a tiger, the previous cat will not be angry, it will be afraid. Several people are coming to tear down your house, and you may be angry. But if a tornado comes, you won't be angry, you will be afraid. So, in essence, anger is actually a kind of fear. "In essence, anger is actually a kind of fear", which is an accurate and simple proportion of "what is anger"
Subtle analogy is a bridge between the fundamental attributes of unfamiliar things and the fundamental ownership of familiar things.
Therefore, making subtle analogy is a manifestation of essential thinking ability.
In The Elephant and the Rider, the author wrote
We may not be able to completely control our behavior. We don't have a "top decision maker" who can decide our own behavior. On the contrary, the real self is made up of many parts, and each part has its own ideas. Even, sometimes the opinions of various parts conflict with each other. Among the various components of the self, some are our internal automation systems, including inner feelings, instinctive reactions, emotions and intuition. The other part is rational thinking and rational requirements.
I don't know how you feel when you see this passage. Do you think these two parts described by the author are somewhat complicated and need to be chewed repeatedly to understand?
Indeed, the author later made a subtle analogy.
Their relationship is like an elephant and an elephant rider. In most cases, this elephant rider is just an elephant consultant. When the elephant and the rider agree, or the elephant has no desire of its own, the rider can command the elephant. And when the elephant really wants to do something, the elephant rider can't beat it at all.
Through this analogy, did you immediately understand? It turns out that our inner automation system is like an elephant, while the rational part is like a person. Therefore, when we unconsciously follow the internal automation system, reason can do nothing at all.
This metaphor is also very vivid! Really exquisite!
If we can't see the root of the problem, we can't make an accurate prediction.
One side of human nature is greed, jealousy, persistence, fear and so on. That is, greed, anger and delusion.
The underlying logic has four main characteristics:
1 abstract. The more abstract, the lower the level.
2 concise.
3 power supply. The underlying logic is the power source of various phenomena.
4 universality. The underlying logic is not aimed at a specific problem, and sometimes a certain kind of problem or phenomenon can even be applied to everything.
Quote from p5
From a phenomenon in chemistry, we think of a model in business and then migrate its solution, which is migration thinking.
Perfect competition is a market structure without any obstacles and interference, which refers to those markets where no enterprise or consumer can influence the price. There are a large number of buyers and sellers with reasonable economic behavior in the market; Products are homogeneous and can be substituted for each other without any difference; Neither the seller nor the buyer has any dominant position or privilege in the market, and the price of the product is determined by the market.
Monopoly means that a monopoly company owns its own market and can set its own prices. Because there is no competition, monopoly companies can freely decide output and price to maximize their benefits.
How to apply thinking mode transfer to work and life?
The first step is to abstract the essence of a certain thinking mode;
The second step is to make an analogy with the immediate problem;
The third step is to transfer the solution of thinking mode to the immediate problem.
Strategic model of unbalanced development
Competitive strategy model: total cost leading strategy, differentiation strategy and specialization strategy.
First of all, I deeply studied the specific contents and usage methods of these three competitive strategies: the total cost leading strategy means that enterprises emphasize providing low-priced products to users at lower unit cost, which is a preemptive strategy, requiring enterprises to have continuous capital investment and financing capabilities and production skills to be in the leading position in the industry; Specialization strategy refers to focusing on a specific customer group, a certain market segment of a product line or a certain market in a certain region; Differentiation strategy refers to the enterprise's efforts to be unique in the industry in some aspects that users attach great importance to. They choose one or more features that many users value and give them a unique position to meet the needs of users.
Quote from page 20
The more disordered the system is, the greater the entropy value is; The more orderly the system is, the smaller the entropy value is.
The way to combat entropy increase: make the system an open system.
An isolated system will eventually decline.
How to turn your mind into an open system;
1 replace fixed thinking with growth thinking;
Replacing stock thinking with flow thinking, a person can only have earth-shaking changes after exchanging energy with the outside world;
Replace temporary learning with lifelong learning, and replace no exploration with lifelong exploration.
The second way to combat entropy increase: stay away from balance.
1 From comfort zone to study zone and even panic zone.
2 subversive growth.
Sometimes positive thinking may not take us where we want to go, but reverse thinking can.
Success or failure mode
Change invariant model
Addition and subtraction model: the most important thing is only one thing.
Happiness-pain model: a little pain cancels out all the happiness in life.
The third way to get pain is resentment. You hate others, which only means that you can't let go of the past. The resentment you can't let go will not only occupy your spiritual space, but also hinder you from starting to create a new life. Those hates are like a strong rope, which tightly binds you and makes you unable to move, and you can't see the beauty and future around you. As a result, your life, which could have been radiant, was eclipsed by resentment. Actually, you still have a choice. You can choose to fill your heart with kindness, beauty and love, or you can choose to fill it with resentment. The difference between the two is that the former will make you better off and the latter will only make you unhappy. Charlie. Yu Mang ignored the role of resentment. He said, if you want pain, I recommend it to you.
Life is impermanent, frustration and pain are part of life.
Combination-reverse mode: Only by implementing the reverse strategy can we stand out in the Red Sea market.
Thanks to the great men full of wisdom, compassion and insight in ancient and modern times, we can get a lot of spiritual nourishment from the book.
"Sweet Zone" mode: If you want to succeed, you must only do what you are capable of (that is, "sweet zone") and do your best, and this range of ability has clear boundaries.
I'm in retreat recently, so I don't have time to look at it carefully for the time being. Friends in need can give away the electronic version of "The Essence of Direct Attack". I look forward to making progress with you.
Mochow has no bosom friend before, and everyone knows you.
Look forward to working with friends with common interests!
