The Tang Dynasty was the golden age in the history of education in China. Unlike the Han Dynasty, it is not limited to Confucian classics, but runs schools in different disciplines with a wide range of majors, which fully shows the prosperity of Tang Wenhua. The management of schools by the central government in the Tang Dynasty can be divided into three categories.

1. Guo Zi School has 300 students, all of whom are children of officials above the third level.

2. Imperial College, 500 students, all children of officials above level 5.

3. Science, there are 1300 students, of whom 500 are descendants of officials with more than seven grades, and 800 are handsome people in Shu Ren.

The above three studies lasted for nine years, with Zhou Li, Yi Li, Li Ji and Zuo's Biography as the main contents, and Zhouyi, Shangshu, Yang Gong Biography and Gu Liang Biography as the main contents. Taking the Book of Filial Piety and The Analects of Confucius as public courses; Mandarin, Erya and Speaking Chinese are optional courses.

4. Calligraphy (Painting and Calligraphy Institute), with 30 students, children of officials below grade 8 and middle school students in Shu Ren. I studied Shuowen and Zilin, and I also learned other word books.

5. Mathematics (School of Mathematics), 30 students, with the enrollment scope as above. Learn nine chapters, Zhou Xie, seal script, etc. Duration 1 1 year.

6. Law (Law School), with 50 students, the enrollment scope is the same as above, taking law as a professional course with a schooling of six years.

The teachers in these two libraries are both famous scholars, called "Bachelor". Collect 30 children with three grades or above and 30 children of aristocratic relatives to learn classic and historical calligraphy.

Every school has a strict examination system: ten-day examination, monthly examination, annual examination and make-up examination (graduation entrance examination). He failed the annual exam three times and dropped out of school.

There are two kinds of local counties and counties in the Tang Dynasty: Confucian classics and medicine: 40 to 60 Confucian classics students, and medical students 10 to 20. County schools only offer Confucian classics, with 20 to 50 students. Students in prefectures and counties can be promoted to four schools if they pass.

In addition, the government encourages private schools, which are usually run by famous scholars, such as Yan Shigu and Confucius. There are also officials and lecturers such as Han Yu and Liu Zongyuan; Others, such as Liu Zhuo, returned to their hometown to give lectures after retirement.
