The scientific research and educational institutions of beekeeping in China are relatively sound. Among the research institutions, the Bee Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences has the largest scale, the most comprehensive disciplines, the most advanced equipment and the most concentrated talents. There are bee breeding Center, Insect Pollination Center, Apiculture Technology Development Center, Apiculture Department, Bee Products Department, China Apiculture Magazine Editorial Department, Library and other institutions. Researchers are mainly composed of people with doctoral, master's and bachelor's degrees. In addition, according to the needs of scientific research, graduate students majoring in special economic animal breeding are recruited every year. The Center for Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing of Bee Products of the Ministry of Agriculture (Beijing) and the Office of China Beekeeping Society are also located in the Institute.

In addition, there are professional research institutions such as Jilin Institute of Beekeeping Science, Gansu Institute of Beekeeping, Jiangxi Institute of Beekeeping, Beijing Institute of Bee Products, and Lianyungang Institute of Bee Therapy in Jiangsu Province.

In China, there are institutions of higher learning that specialize in training high-level talents in apiculture, more than 20 institutions offer courses in apiculture, and more than 10 institutions have teaching and research institutions in apiculture. Among them, the College of Bee Science of Fujian Agricultural University is the only college in China that can recruit students for the whole country and train postgraduate and undergraduate students in bee science. In addition, there are Zhejiang University Bee Industry Research Institute, Yunnan Agricultural University Oriental Bee Research Institute, Shandong Agricultural University Bee Teaching and Research Office, etc. Among them, the Institute of Animal Science of Zhejiang University is the only institution of higher learning in China that can recruit doctors majoring in bee science.
