Wang Renyu (879-956), a native of Li Hanyang (now Qiaotou Town, Lixian County), was a famous writer in the Five Dynasties.

Wang Renyu lost his father when he was a child, and he didn't like reading. He was aloof and took pleasure in riding horses and shooting arrows. At the age of 25, he decided to study, became eager to learn, and was good at poetry. Soon, he became "famous for his writing style". Wang Renyu lived in the turbulent Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. After entering the official career, he successively served as the judge of Zhou Qin Festival, the judge of Shannan West Road Festival, the former Shu Zhongshu Sheren and the Hanlin Bachelor. After the death of the former Shu, he accompanied Wang Sitong to Chang 'an and served as a judge and doctor in Xijing. Later Tang dynasty, former Shu dynasty, later Liang dynasty, later Tang dynasty, later Jin dynasty, later Han dynasty and later Zhou dynasty. After the age of seventy, he also served as Minister of Finance, Minister of War and Prince Shao Shi in the Later Han and Zhou Dynasties. After his death, Zhao presented it to the prince.

During his stay in Chang 'an, Wang Renyu dabbled extensively, searched for Tang Dou's relics and strange articles, and wrote the book "The Legacy of Kaiyuan Tianbao". When I was in the Hanlin Academy, I collected folk stories and anecdotes of celebrities and compiled a book "Gossip about Yutang". His works widely show the social, political, economic, cultural and natural phenomena in the late Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Wang Renyu's works mainly include Xijiang Ji, Zi Ni Ji, Ru Luo Ji, Yutang Gossip, the Legacy of Kaiyuan Tianbao and so on.

During the Xinwei period in Hou Liang (9 1 1), Wang Renyu visited the Maijishan Grottoes in Tianshui alone and wrote poems describing the cultural landscape and artistic achievements of the Maijishan Grottoes in detail. It is the earliest document of Maijishan Grottoes, and its contents are compiled in Yutang Gossip and Taiping Guangji. His poems inscribed on the wall of Maiji Mountain are famous works in Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms. His poem says, "I'm hanging on a ladder in Wan Ren, and I'm waiting for white clouds. Before the hill eaves, the sunset is low. There are few dangerous people on the extreme road, and ancient rock pines and healthy cranes frequently inhabit. " If you want to keep your name and surname on the horizon, you should be diligent in asking questions. In his later years, Wang Renyu had "more than 10,000 poems, reduced to 100 volumes". His works have distinct characteristics of the times, sharp brushwork, clear praise and criticism, and high literary value. He is a famous writer.

Wang Renyu died in the third year of Xiande in the later Zhou Dynasty (956) and was buried in Chizhong Village, Kaifeng County. In the seventh year of Kaibao in the Northern Song Dynasty (974), his family buried the coffin in their hometown. In recent years, Zhanglong Village, Qiaotou Township, Lixian County has discovered the Tombstone of the Duke of Zhou Dynasty and the Epitaph of Wang Renyu, which were founded in the third year of Yongxi in the Northern Song Dynasty.
