Ma Yun: I am very excited. I have always regarded the students of Peking University as my idols, and I have never taken the exam, so I think if one day I want to be a teacher at Peking University.

Moderator (Wang): I remember Ma Yun once said that he would go to the podium to be a teacher one day.

Ma Yun: This plan was told by Peking University. I remember saying that in the next five years, I will go to Harvard if I succeed, and Peking University if I fail. Good teachers can tell the reasons for failure and tell Americans when they succeeded, but successful examples are difficult to learn and imitate.

Ma Yun: Thank you, Xiao Ya. Thank you. I am very excited to go to Peking University again to communicate with many classmates and friends. It is a great honor to be nominated as the person of the year in China economy this year. I think the opportunity is created by everyone and shared by everyone. Our Internet has been nominated as an economic figure again, which shows that the Internet has once again affected China's economy. I left the university on 1995. I taught for six and a half years and started to create the first Internet company. At that time, it was difficult. At that time, China was not really connected to the Internet. It was a little difficult to register my name at that time. I wanted to register as "Hangzhou Internet Co., Ltd.". When we registered, the name "Internet" didn't exist in the dictionary. Later registered "Hangzhou Computer Network Company". Later, we founded the so-called B2B Alibaba, and the so-called innovation became a matter for technicians. Many people think of technological innovation, but innovation in mode, market development, management and capital operation can be better.

I don't know technology like me, so I made up many reasons for myself that we can innovate in all walks of life. Speaking of which, I think when we were doing Alibaba, where did my earliest idea and my innovative idea come from? Just now, there was a photo on the Great Wall. We did two things on the Great Wall that day. On the Great Wall, we vowed to be the best company in the world founded by China people in this life. We put aside all our money and reputation and only focused on this one thing. Secondly, I found many words on the Great Wall, such as "Zhang San visited here" and "Li Si visited here as a souvenir". I found that this is the earliest BBS in China, so I started with BBS, and Alibaba started with BBS at the earliest. The idea of BBS must be innovated again. I told our technicians at that time that I would check and classify every post in BBS. They think it goes against the spirit of the Internet. I think every post should be checked and classified.

2 Ma Yun's speech at Peking University

Besides, we didn't know our name was B2B at that time. Now everyone thinks that Alibaba is the largest B2B in the world, because we have13 million members. Later, people said you were B2B, but we didn't know it when we did it. We say this is to help small and medium-sized enterprises succeed. Where did this idea come from? I remember I was invited to attend the Asian e-commerce conference in Singapore. I found that 90% of the speakers are American guests and 90% of the audience are westerners. All the cases and examples used are ebay and Yahoo. I think Asia is Asia, China is China and the United States is the United States. Americans play NBA basketball very well, so people in China should play table tennis. On the way back to China, I think China must have its own business model. I don't know whether it's ebay or Yahoo, but we have the opportunity to help SMEs succeed.

When we conceived Alibaba in 1999, we considered the economy of China. The first overall situation judges that it is only a matter of time before China joins the WTO. If the WTO is unthinkable, China enterprises can do business abroad. If we set up an Internet to help China enterprises export and help foreign enterprises enter China, this will be our first idea. Secondly, we believe that small and medium-sized enterprises and private economy have promoted the rapid development of China's economy, and we will always help those enterprises that need help and can help themselves. Small and medium-sized enterprises use e-commerce, which is their trend, rather than some large enterprises using e-commerce to show off. So helping those who really need help and helping those enterprises that need help is our earliest idea.

It has always been said that Alibaba's model is bad, bad, and so many innovations can withstand pressure and temptation. We were originally called lunatics to today's lunatics. No matter what others say, we firmly believe that we don't care what others think of us, what we care about is how to look at the world and how to move forward step by step according to our established dreams. This is the only way for enterprises to do anything. So today, some people say that Alibaba's B2B has not been recognized by the world, so we launched C2C. Because our C2C has not been recognized, we bought Yahoo engine. This is just a guess. China's e-commerce will definitely become a model beyond the United States, which is my personal judgment. Why do we think there will be great development in C2C field? I often say that China has a population of 65.438+0.3 billion. Through these years' efforts, the economy has developed rapidly. It takes only a few years for 300 million people to go online, while it takes several years for 300 million people in the United States to have children online.

There are many rumors that Alibaba's acquisition of Yahoo is a kind of hype, but we don't think so. In fact, the acquisition of Yahoo is the whole model proposed by ourselves. In this acquisition, we acquired Yahoo, which holds 40% of the shares of our headquarters and 35% of the voting rights. This idea is our own original creation. There is no such model on Wall Street, and the whole world has not heard of such acquisition. Why are you doing this? First, the development of e-commerce in China needs search engines to make such tools. After investigating a large number of search engines, we found that only Yahoo! Generally, you should choose a smart partner who has made mistakes, so you should talk to Yahoo when you choose. First of all, we must give Yahoo face, so we thought of a way. We bought you China. You must own part of Alibaba's headquarters, but this part of the shares can't control Alibaba. We can never control Alibaba, nor can we manipulate Alibaba, because from the first day of our company's establishment, our mission is to create a world-class company founded by China people in China. If this is the mission, our share control structure must be changed, and no one can control it, so Ma Yun has controlled such a thing from the first day. Therefore, everyone guesses whether it is Sun Zhengyi Holdings or Yang Zhiyuan Holdings. I tell you responsibly that I won't let anyone control this company. This company was founded by China people and developed all over the world under the market economy.

So our structure is very clever, and it seems incredible to buy all the world, 1 billion dollars, 700 million dollars. This is the largest acquisition in the world last year. We didn't use the consulting company because we didn't trust it. Everything we said was right and everything we did was wrong. We didn't use investment banks either. We thought we would do anything right, do anything right. If we add investment banks, it will be very complicated, so we quickly made this decision and decided to buy Yahoo in a short time, which also gave Yahoo face. At the same time, no one is allowed to control the company in the whole organizational structure, and in the whole company, we have joined a rule that Alibaba will live 102 in this life. If the company dies the day before 102, we will never talk about our success, so we will never talk about our success now. Within 102, this company will always have a China person as the director of this company. This company may become a multinational company with international technology and market, but there is one thing in the DNA that a China person must be the director of this company. I demand that it be written into the company's articles of association. This is innovation. Those directors are stupid. I said there was no way. It was my idea.

We firmly believe that the China market itself is a multinational market, world-class companies will be born in China, and world-class entrepreneurs will also be born in China. So Alibaba not only helps small and medium-sized enterprises succeed, but also helps young people learn their sense of mission and values, emphasizing our culture and our values. This is the place where I especially hope to communicate with my classmates from Peking University. I am still a teacher. Just now, smiles send us light asked me if I would like to go back to school as a teacher. I will be a teacher again. I call myself the chief education officer. As teachers, our responsibility is to learn the most advanced experience in the world and compete with the world's masters. After learning, we will tell these ideas to young people.
