What dignity should I keep when I sleep? After a day of listening, thinking and practicing dharma, when you sleep at night, you should lie on your right side, press your right foot, put your right hand under your right cheek, and put your left hand on your left leg, just like the luck when the main Buddha was in nirvana in April 15. Sleeping sideways like this, even if you die suddenly, you won't fall into bad taste. Master Lotus Peanut repeatedly preached in Six Shadows: "Any sentient being (not only human beings) will not fall into three evils if he is lucky when he dies, even if his karma is deep and his sin is great." This is a very important teaching! In the past, when the guru preached Yin Dharma, he once again stressed: "When we die, we'd better lie down on auspicious occasions. If we are really incapable, people around us should try their best to help. Even when yaks, hungry dogs and other animals are dying, if you put your body in an auspicious posture, you will not fall into bad taste. " It can be seen that the merits of auspicious lying are very great, and you should remember this posture every day when you sleep.
When Sakyamuni Buddha entered nirvana, his head was facing north. Some commentators believe that this means that Mahayana Buddhism, as the great victory of the Buddha, will be popularized in northern India-Tibet, Han nationality and other places. There is such a origin. Therefore, when sleeping, some magicians require that the bed must be changed and the head must face north and west. However, the eulogy here is about "welcoming desire", which can be in any direction as long as it is auspicious. Otherwise, lying on your back is prone to greed; Face down prone, easy to cause anger; Lying on the left side increases infatuation, and various horizontal positions below the law will lead to all kinds of ignorance and troubles. Only lying on your side is the most meritorious.
As practitioners, we should not spend 24 hours a day, but should spend it on practicing good dharma. In the Book of Friends and Relatives written by Bodhisattva Longmeng, it is said that you should practice good dharma diligently during the day, and when you sleep at night, you can divide the night into three hours, sleep in the middle of the night, and practice good dharma on the first night and the last night. According to this theory, if there are twelve hours at night, you can only sleep for four hours in the middle. Some people may be a little scared! But generally speaking, if you sleep for six hours, it is more appropriate to start sleeping at 10 and get up at 4 am. According to yoga master and Mahayana Abidharma, going to sleep at midnight is also very beneficial to your health.
Lucky lying has two advantages. On the one hand, it won't waste sleep time, but it can make full use of it and accumulate incredible merits. Another reason is that if we leave this world in a deep sleep, we won't fall into three evils like this. So some old practitioners in the past paid more attention to this recumbent sleeping position.
But sometimes we sleep in a lucky position and wake up the next morning in a completely different position. This situation is also more frequent. However, for more than a year, I kept my lucky lies well every day. It's not that I practiced well by myself, but that there is a pain on my right side. If I keep pressing it, it won't hurt, and I can't turn over at night. Once you turn over, you will wake up in pain and can't move until dawn. I sometimes think, "this disease still helps me a little." If it doesn't hurt, I will definitely turn it over at night, and the auspicious lie will soon take shape. " In a word, Jixiangwo has great merits. It is not enough to understand the truth, but also to do it in practice.
Strictly speaking, a really good yogi never lies down to sleep at night, but always sits like this. Last year, some Kampo from the college went to Chang to listen to the inheritance. The missionary is a monk in his eighties. He has been staying up all night since he was in his twenties, and he hasn't been lying down until now. It was the same when I first came to college. I didn't lie down and sleep for about fifteen years, and then I got spinal disease. The doctor said I wouldn't live long like this, so I had to fall down on the pretext of being ill. In front of me, some wizards have fallen down, while behind me, some people have been in the room for more than 20 years, and there is no bed at all. There are many such practitioners in the college. It is said that some of our magicians are like this. Thirteen or four years, they have been working hard at night, and they are really happy!
At the beginning, many people vowed how to practice, but the so-called practice requires long-term persistence. If it can be unchanged for decades, it is a good practitioner. Some people have just become monks, especially in the era of shaving their heads. They don't sleep, they are very diligent, and their behavior is as quiet and gentle as the "new bhikkhu" mentioned in the "Heart-resting Big Car". There are some "new amateurs" outside, and so is the beginner's theory. Within a few days, they are extremely active, and after a period of time, they gradually fail. The original evil deeds were exposed and returned to the previous state.
In our college, many Tibetan and Han monks are lucky when they die. Of course, there are also some great virtues who welcome death in different ways. Wu, the living Buddha of Daofu, asked Ruyibao, the French king, to read the inheritance for us when he poured "Four Hearts Drops". He read four letters altogether, and he is also our fundamental teacher. Some time ago, he went to his hometown to hold a dharma meeting when he was not ill. After the ceremony, he read a piece of auspicious ode and stood on the throne and died. Therefore, there are many ways for practitioners to die, but no matter how they die, the most important thing is that our Tao mind cannot be damaged. With this in mind, I often practice auspicious lying, which is also very easy to use. Otherwise, you have never trained in your sleep, just regard it as a theory, and you may not need it when you are dead.
According to the relevant works, there are four kinds of merits of auspicious lying (different works have different opinions): First, the body does not relax, and it will not produce thoughts and behaviors that are inferior to the law because of dispersion. Second, don't lose mindfulness. The lion is the king of all animals, and we won't lose mindfulness in our sleep. We will sleep at this level and never forget the mindfulness of practicing good dharma. Third, you won't fall into a state of deep sleep and deep drowsiness, but you can always be alert. Fourth, don't have nightmares, but often have auspicious dreams. Sakyamuni Buddha knew all kinds of dharma like the back of his hand. When he was in nirvana, all his actions chose this posture, which must be of great benefit to later scholars.
Before going to bed, we should pay attention to four things: first, we should sleep with full mindfulness, and we should be in the thoughts of good dharma from beginning to end. When I was in primary school, I used to live in an old Lama's house. Every day after dinner, he puts on his cassock and blows out the lights. He kept saying, "Hama is beautiful, Hama is beautiful …", and gradually fell asleep, and his voice was gone. When I woke up in the morning, his voice was so cloudy that I couldn't hear it clearly. Later, I slowly-"Bazzasa". My son is Maya, my son is Ba Laha, my son is Ba, my son is Ba ... "I started reading Chinese characters until I had breakfast, and this tradition never stopped. These childhood educations have a great influence on my life. Although I am not so diligent, I always think it is very necessary and important. I often preach in front of many Tibetan and Chinese wizards to mobilize everyone to read the Sambo Classic and understand it in a hundred words. But sometimes my ability is limited, and sometimes I am troubled, so I admire those old practitioners.
The second is to fall asleep in the right knowledge and try not to have some troubles.
The third is to think bright. Think about buddhas and bodhisattvas before going to bed, such as Sakyamuni Buddha or Amitabha Buddha, light up the surroundings and fall asleep in this state. The guru has a special method of Amitabha in his heart. With this method, Amitabha will meet him personally on his deathbed. Even if we can't do this, as a yogi, we'd better not forget that we usually go out with Buddha or Thangka, which is the difference between us and non-yogis. At the same time, you should also watch Buddha every day, otherwise your behavior may not be like Dharma. Even if you don't know how to practice Buddhism, it is also a kind of practice to put the images of Buddha Sakyamuni, Buddha Amitabha or Guru Ruyibao in front of you, then have a look, repent well and recite the scriptures well. Anyone can do this exercise. If you can practice for a long time, you will become a good practitioner.
The fourth is to get up early and think. Before going to bed, don't think, "Tomorrow is Sunday, and it doesn't matter if you sleep until three o'clock in the afternoon." If you really think so, you may have been sleeping. If you think "you should get up early tomorrow" before going to bed, your inner strength is incredible, and you can definitely get up early.
It is necessary for a yogi to fall asleep with these four thoughts, namely, mindfulness, mindfulness, mindfulness and early mindfulness.
In addition, Kambu Ganhao Rinpoche summed up the teachings of Hua Zhi Rinpoche and Mai Peng Rinpoche as a trick in his lecture notes, that is, to observe and practice one day's life as a lifetime. That is to say, in the morning, I meditate on my newborn, which was my childhood; At noon, imagine yourself as a mature person; Visualize the old man in the afternoon; At night, visualisation began to get sick and close to death; When you fall asleep, you die; Dream view is in Yin stage; I woke up the next morning and imagined the rest of my life.
Why do you think so? Because of this, the impermanent heart can be born. If one day is equivalent to a lifetime, it depends on whether you have practiced bodhicitta in your life. If you don't practice bodhicitta in the morning of your childhood, at noon in your prime of life, or in the afternoon of your old age, your life will be in vain and you will not be sure before you die. So this visualization is very necessary.
If you sleep in pure and beautiful thoughts, life will be very happy. The Dragon Dream Bodhisattva said in On the Treasures: "If you sleep in happiness, you will wake up in happiness. Peace of mind, the happiness of dreams. " We practitioners are always happy, living, sitting and lying down are all happy. But people in the world are not like this, because they are unhappy during the day and have unspeakable pain before going to bed. If they fall asleep in pain, the dream must be a nightmare, and when they wake up, they will be unhappy ... The whole life goes hand in hand with pain, which is the difference between non-practitioners and practitioners.
Of course, too much sleep will be a big obstacle to practice, but no sleep at all will do. Anaru had been dozing off because of drowsiness and fatigue when the Buddha was lecturing. The Buddha looked at him and said, "You slept well. Among snails and mussels, you slept for a thousand years and didn't hear the name of the Buddha." Anaru was very ashamed after hearing this. He knelt before the Buddha, folded his hands and swore, "From now on, my life is over and I will never sleep again." After that, he worked hard and refused to sleep for a while. After a long time, my eyes failed. The Buddha called a famous doctor Jianpo to treat me. Jane told Anna that my eyes would get better as long as I was willing to sleep, but Anna refused to sleep. Soon, Anaru's eyes went blind, and the Buddha pitied him, taught him to practice Samadha, and finally gained insight into the sky.
Some of our Taoist friends don't sleep at night and always doze off in class during the day. Maybe no one dares to make such an oath. In fact, it is definitely impossible for all beings in the world not to sleep, but if they sleep, they should arrange some appropriate time.
Appendix Luozhu Danba Living Buddha's exposition on the lion's dying posture
You should have a good dignity when you die. It is necessary to adopt the posture of the lion lying down when Sakyamuni Buddha is nirvana. The lion lies on the right side with his legs slightly bent, his left hand on his left leg and his right hand as a pillow. This involves the profound meaning of wind pulse operation, which is beneficial to the collection of life energy and the transfer of knowledge to the afterlife.
Everyone should correct the bad lying posture at ordinary times, adopt the lion lying posture and develop good sleeping habits. Then, through breathing, we can change ourselves: when inhaling, we imagine the suffering of all beings as black smoke and inhale it into our bodies to suffer; When you exhale, you will turn all the good roots of three generations into light and give them back to the mother beings in the world. With this practice of self-communication, the whole life melts into bodhicitta and dies, reflecting the true Mahayana style.

Sleep concept method
If you want to sleep in the pure land, put your hands together and face west. If you sit or kneel, recite Amitabha, Guanyin, Shi Zhi and Clean Sea for ten times, and make a wish:
Disciple A, now a mortal, is sinful and reincarnated for six lives. When I met knowledge today, I got Tommy's name. I want virtue, I want mindfulness, I want death, and I want Buddha's compassion. Disciple A didn't know that Buddha and body were in love. May Buddha appear so that I can see Guanyin, Shi Zhi and other bodhisattvas. His world is pure and solemn, and light and beauty are equal, which shows me.
I have vowed to enter the concept of mindfulness, or sleep with mindfulness, without miscellaneous words and thoughts. Or you can see it when you make a wish, or you can see it in your sleep, but if you make a special ambition, you will get it.
This legal system was established by a good tutor. Master lianchi said, "The Master of Good Guidance was called the incarnation of Amitabha in ancient times. Now, let the people who cultivate the pure land believe that they should be careful not to neglect their laziness because they have no experience for the time being. They must adhere to the pure land for a long time, and their contribution will not be there. " Ji scholars do their homework every day after class or before going to bed.
