Its main tasks and responsibilities are to provide special training for presidents and vice presidents of high and intermediate courts, senior judges of courts at all levels and their appointment, renewal and promotion of reserve talents, as well as pre-job training for reserve judges, and to hold higher education for law graduates and law (clerks) majors and law (judicial police officers) majors. Judges College was established in 1997, and its predecessor was National Amateur Law University for Court Cadres (1985-200 1) and China Senior Judges Training Center (1988- 1997).
